"Hello, class," Angua greeted the students with a faint smile. "Long time, no see. I hope you enjoyed your holiday and that our last few classes can actually happen consecutively without the usual interruptions. Today, I'd just like to go ahead and work on an activity to kind of get your brains back into the tracking mindset, as well as remembering everything we've gone over in class so far to help you find and track a person, animal, thing, what have you."

"You may work alone or in pairs if you like, and, when you're ready, you will have to track something down, but you know very little about it. I hesitate to use the word 'clue,' but, essentially, that's what you'll be given. You won't know if you'll be going into an urban setting or a wilderness one; you'll have to improvise. And remember, it could lead anywhere. I know quite a few good stories about tracking personally, but probably only half of them are even appropriate for school."

Sad, but true.

"So take a few moments, grab a partner if you'd like, or as any questions, and then I'll let you know your scenario and any other additional..." Sigh, "clues."

Ben nodded, taking the scarf carefully. "Did they preserve the scene where they found the scarf?"

"As well as they could," Angua's smile stayed, and she quirked her head to lead Ben that way, toward the gate of the city. "It's a pretty high-traffic area, and there's a Koom Valley parade later on today, so they didn't have enough barricades to spare."

It sounded a bit like Coruscant, really, at least with the random festivals that Ben had never heard of.

He was looking carefully at the...questionable thing...on the scarf. "I suppose it would be considered cheating if I used my datapad to analyze the stain?"

"It depends, I guess, on what kind of mood I'm in," Angua snorted slightly, but an amused one. "It could be, but it could also just be utilizing the tools at your disposal. Why don't you give it a try the old fashioned way, and then, if that doesn't work, go with the datapad."

Pause.

"Wait, your datapad doesn't involve imps, does it?"

Because then she might have to change her mind.

"No imps," Ben assured her. "Just circuits." He brought the scarf up to his nose, using his enhanced Jedi senses to try to pick up some idea of what the stain could be.

The scent, to someone who might know it, actually appeared to be none other than ketchup.

Or was it catsup?

Ben frowned thoughtfully as he sniffed. Being a teenage boy well versed in the junk food arts, he recognized the smell.

"Ketchup?" he said aloud. "Is there a junk food place near the gate?"
