Cafeteria | Afternoon | Thursday | November 25

It was Thanksgiving Day. It was time for parades, football and food. Currently, Alex was leaning against one of the walls in the kitchen, watching the catering company set up for dinner. There was a shitload of food and his stomach growled just watching.

It was good to be president. He got to delegate everything.

When one of the caterers stepped forward and thrust a plastic wrapped garment bag in his hand, Alex frowned.

"What?"

"Outfits for the dinner," the caterer said. "The contract states that we make and you serve the food. No fulfillment of the contract, no food."

Confused, Alex unzipped the bag and peeked inside. The costume was not cool at all.

"Are you serious?" Alex asked, glaring. "No way!"

"No costumes," the caterer said, already signaling his workers to get ready to package the food up, "no food."

Alex continued glaring at the caterer and the costume. He hated his life.

[OCD is up and this is posted early for SP, of course!]

Effy huffed a wry breath. "Welcome to come back with me if you want," she offered. "Not like she'll care if I have a friend around." Might not even really notice.

"She just spent best part of two months screwing some Italian. Might be in a better mood after that." Less man-hating, at least. Maybe more depressed at having to leave said Italian in Italy.

"Would probably depend what you said to her," Effy allowed.

Even then, considering the man she'd married... At least she was used to difficult?

Effy smirked. "You say that... My parents have always figured I was a good girl." Or at least, blamed any rebellion on her brother. Her dad had been known to temper his language around her delicate ears, even. "Baby of the family and all."

"Tony's the troublemaker. A bad influence on me." She was quiet. How could she possibly be capable of making her own trouble?

Well, yes, she was. "He used to be. I've just... picked up his slack." She rebelled in a slightly less obvious way. That was the trouble.

... And, well, when she'd been in Bristol, she'd always had him to come and rescue her if shit went wrong. So her parents rarely found out, and when they did, Tony was there.

"Already not been thrown out of anywhere lately?" No sex on desks, no helping to start riots, no getting arrested. Sad, really. Seventeen and she was already appearing to be calming down.

"Maybe I am." Somehow that still wasn't that convincing. Saintly and angelic would never last long with her.

Effy hummed some vague agreement. "You must be a better influence on me, huh?"

Effy grinned, in that way that you know the next thing that came from her mouth would be a lie. "Of course not. Couldn't be nice if your life depended on it, right?"

"So what's the last really rebellious thing you've done?" she had to ask.

"Oh, you are the definition of badass," Effy remarked, looking amused. "You really are." Not.

"Did he?" She... wouldn't really put it past Tino. There was always the chance he'd been drunk, asking Alex in the first place.

Not really the question she'd been asking, but having to explain yourself ruined a little of the point, and Effy just shook her head slightly.

"And you don't feel even the slightest bit bad.' That didn't need to be a question. "Probably all lonely now without you."

"Not sure I can enjoy it now I know he's out there crying into his turkey over you."

The smile, really betrayed how much bullshit went into that statement.
