Cafeteria | Afternoon | Thursday | November 25

It was Thanksgiving Day. It was time for parades, football and food. Currently, Alex was leaning against one of the walls in the kitchen, watching the catering company set up for dinner. There was a shitload of food and his stomach growled just watching.

It was good to be president. He got to delegate everything.

When one of the caterers stepped forward and thrust a plastic wrapped garment bag in his hand, Alex frowned.

"What?"

"Outfits for the dinner," the caterer said. "The contract states that we make and you serve the food. No fulfillment of the contract, no food."

Confused, Alex unzipped the bag and peeked inside. The costume was not cool at all.

"Are you serious?" Alex asked, glaring. "No way!"

"No costumes," the caterer said, already signaling his workers to get ready to package the food up, "no food."

Alex continued glaring at the caterer and the costume. He hated his life.

[OCD is up and this is posted early for SP, of course!]

Like Leda was gonna pass up a feast? She wasted no time loading up a plate and looking for people to be thankful with.

Is that cranberry sauce?

The socks and shoes had to go. Kyle planned on swapping them for his normal shoes as soon as possible. The hat was a winner though and he wore it tipped at a jaunty angle as he helped move things around when something needed moving.

This still wasn't her holiday, but that wasn't going to stop Effy from showing to take advantage. Done enough laying low the last couple of weeks to be able to appreciate people.

Now was the time to snag a plate and survey for what she wanted.

Truly, Rosalind was glad that she'd indulged her curiosity and showed up when she realized what the Student Council members were wearing.

Rosalind was quite amused at Alex's predicament.

Oh my, yes.

That she was busy with a personal project of her own didn't mean that Hinata wasn't aware of the day--or of what would be served in the cafeteria. Taking a plate of food, she found herself a seat quite happily.

The costumes made her lips twitch slightly, before she firmly told herself she was not to laugh at them as that would be rude.

Leda gave Effy a mock salute. "Happy...whatever holiday this is."

Raven enjoyed taking part in the rituals of other cultures, so despite being tired and still out of sorts after the meeting with Max yesterday, she came down to the cafeteria for dinner. She skipped the turkey and gravy, of course, and helped herself to the vegetable dishes. And, ooh, tofurkey!

If he was honest, Jake would have to admit that maybe he was kind of second guessing the whole not going home thing. The pack would be celebrating together and he was sure Emily's turkey would be awesome.

Still, there was a lot of food here and the entertainment wasn't too bad either. So yes, Jake had a pile with lots and lots of turkey and snickering at Stuco wasn't so bad either.

"I think," Rosalind murmured, as she reached for the potatoes, "that Alex should wear that get up all the time."

The opportunities to mock would be endless. She was such a good friend.

"You can have ice cream later," Tahiri told the little orange kitten who, for the moment, was riding along in a sort of harness-pouch-thing she'd rigged up because the idea of Ben seeing all that food while he had kitten impulses was a little terrifying. "But you're kriffing well going to enjoy the rest of the menu too. And laugh at Alex with me."

Which, from her seat, from behind her well-stocked plate of food, she fully intended to do.

"He looks very, very fetching in it," Jake agreed with a snort. "Think you could get him to do a dance for you?"

"If, on the off-chance that he'd say yes," she mused, "he'd have a price. The question is--would I be willing to pay that price?"

It really depended.

No one had warned Elphaba about the copious amounts of turkey.

No one.

When she saw it, she narrowed her eyes a bit, but managed to serve herself a plate of various vegetables and the like. More food than she'd normally indulge in, even.

She wouldn't speak out. But she suddenly liked this Thanksgiving a lot less.

Jake pursed his lips, trying to figure out what he'd ask for that particular embarrassment.

"Probably not, no," he mused. "He might ask you to join him."

"I, at least, would not be wearing that."

And if he wanted her to wear it, well--not happening.

Faramir remained uncertain as to what was being celebrated, but he would not miss out on the opportunity to take part in a tradition of this world.

He took a little bit of every dish (and somehow managed to still end up with a rather modest amount compared to some) and found himself a place to eat.

Jake munched on a bit of turkey as he considered the outfit. "Shame, you'd look cute."

Oh yes, he was ready to duck.

[identity profile] give-areason.livejournal.com 2010-11-25 05:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Duck?

Ducking would do little as she hooked her ankle around one of his chair legs and pulled in hopes of knocking it off balance enough that he'd fall out of the chair.

Hopefully.

"It would suit you better."

And now he was going to have to wonder exactly how strong she was as his chair wobbled and he was leaning back enough to upset its balance even more. If he hadn't been who he was, that probably would have worked but his reflexes kicked in and he managed to plant his feet firmly on the ground before he did go down.

"Are you trying to start a war here?" he asked, raising an eyebrow at her but he was obviously amused. "Maybe someone forgot to explain the whole purpose of Thanksgiving?"
