So You Say You Want a Revolution: Week 12, Period 3

When the students arrived in their classroom, they would each find a note on their desk. Each note read the same thing.

Dear Class,

By now you will have hopefully learned something that could be applicable to your home situation. Seeing as though many of you will be returning there this week due to the holiday weekend, discuss amongst your groups what you feel you could take from this class to use at home. Be prepared for your final non-exam class next week.

Aly was no where to be immediately seen - though it was an interesting question if she were around and watching or not.

"Sounds like someone's a goody-goody." Shocking it wasn't Nico. Really.

"Hey, don't underestimate the power of being a suck up," Luke said. "You get all sorts of benefits."

And sometimes it backfires and you become teacher's pet so well that they decide to use your body as a vessel. Whoops.

"What sorts of benefits?" Nico asked, not sure he knew. "It's not like we need grades or whatever it is the kids here are getting at the end."

"Well, you won't be likely to get detention every Saturday for the foreseeable future," Luke said with a smirk. "And, hey, sucking up helped me get to be camp counselor."

"I always thought that was just you being the best of the Hermes kids," Nico replied, not having realized there was any sucking up needed. But then, Nico had lived in a cabin all to himself.

"That's how I kept the position," he said. "But I wasn't the only Hermes kid when I got to camp. I had to earn my position."

"Who'd you beat out of it?" Nico asked like the interested little dork he would always be deep down inside.

"Chris Rodriguez," Luke said. "He's a little younger than me, but he's been in camp longer. He's a good guy."

He'd also be one of the first demigods to join Luke. And then Luke would repay him by sending him into the Labyrinth to go crazy.

That was the part Nico knew about. Luckily he also knew Chris had gotten help from Mr. D and Clarisse.

"He is," Nico agreed easily. "How'd you beat him?" Look, Nico liked storytime when it came to Luke. Percy, not so much.

"You mean aside from the fact that I'm just more talented than most people in almost every way?" Luke asked, mostly joking. "I was better with the unclaimed cabin eleven kids than he was."

Luke really had the natural ability to get others to worship him and Nico would always have a difficult time not getting pulled under the spell. Good thing Luke hadn't bothered with him back in the day.

"Do you like being in charge?"

"Of course I do. People look up to me, and I can bend the rules to make them work for me," Luke said. "Don't you like it?"

He figured any kid of the Big Three got to do whatever they wanted when they weren't busy being attacked.

Nico shrugged. "I guess. I'm mostly in charge of dead people though. They kinda have to do what I say."

"You could do more than that if you wanted to," Luke told him. "You're a son of Hades."

"You're the one with all the charisma, Luke. I'm the one who makes skeletons sleep." Which clearly mattered.

"Why do you sell yourself short like that?" Luke asked. "Come on, even Percy thinks he's awesome and the kid can be a huge idiot sometimes."

"Hey, I didn't say I wasn't awesome," Nico said a little defensively. Okay, maybe he didn't think he was as awesome as the others.

"Yeah, but you said you only make skeletons sleep too," he pointed out. "I know you can do more than that. And I'm not even talking about the powers you have."

"Making Percy get over himself is a pretty impressive skill, I know, but it doesn't make a leader." Not like Luke.

"I think you'd be a good leader," Luke told him. "And you can't change my mind about that, so don't try."

Fine, Nico wouldn't try. He would just shrug and resume wondering how he was going to get out of this whole detention for eternity thing.

And manage not to fanboy Luke till the end of time.
