"Hi, everyone!" Ariel gave the club a little bit of a wave once it looked like mostly everyone was there and it was time to begin. "I promise, I'm not going to make anyone sing about sexy things today, unless you really want to, in which case, go for it! Today, we're just going to take it easy and sing whatever we might want to sing about and have fun."

Because someone had a birthday party she had to go set up for, ahem.

"But, I was also thinking of something fun we could do next week that might take some practice, but would be a really great way to work together and get to know each other a little more. We should do duets next week! And we could also make it sort of a competition, so that whoever works together best and has the best duet, I've actually picked up a gift certificate for free dinner at Il Pollo. I hear they have free breadsticks! Mister Deadpool and Master Skywalker, obviously, get to judge who has the best. And they don't count, 'cause I know they like to sing together, and then they'd just pick themselves."

As much as she'd support a Deadpool/Anakin dinner date.

Ariel gave a faint, anticipatory smile to the group. "What do you think?"

[[ ETA: My brain is special and just remembered next Thursday is Thanksgiving. So Ariel will amend to make it the week after next for the competition once she finds out what Thanksgiving is ;) ]]

Who, clearly, were disqualified because they were too obvious as winners.

"I'll be up with my wife's family in Connecticut next week," Anakin said, sounding a little apologetic.

Ariel couldn't help smile at that, knowing she'd be spending time with her own family this weekend. "Aw, that's okay!" she said. "That's a good reason to miss, and Mister Deadpool can judge himself."

Even if that prospect frightened even Ariel a little.

"Or you could ask another faculty member," Anakin, petty, petty, petty Anakin, suggested. "Perhaps Max?"

"Do you think so?" asked Ariel, tilting her head and wondering if she even knew who that faculty member was. "It wouldn't be the same, though, you know. There's no replacement for you, Master Skywalker."

Cue brilliant charming butt-kissing smile.

He smiled back, not really buying it. "It's Thanksgiving," he said. "Some other members of the club might be busy as well."

"...Thanksgiving?" asked Ariel, tilting her head. "What's that?"

Because, though they seemed to still have Christmas under the sea ~~according to merchandise~~, Thanksgiving was still a new one ~~so far, Disney princess crossover with Pocahontas, omg!!!~~.

"A national holiday," Anakin explained, "where people spend time with relatives they make or may not enjoy, eat far too much food, yell at the television and see a parade full of giant inflated cartoon creatures."

Ariel probably shouldn't have asked the guy from the other planet. He still thought Santa was a creepy stalker.

Ariel considered this description carefully, which was probably more accurate than one she'd get from someone from this planet, really.

"That sounds like so much fun!" she concluded, breaking out into a grin. "And that's next Thursday?"

Anakin nodded. "There's normally a dinner thrown by the school for students who stay behind."

Rinoa looked from one advisor to the other.

"But you two are going to do a duet, aren't you?" she said. "After you're back from Connecticut."

"Definitely not," Anakin said. "I'm not going to be like the guy in the show I never watch who is constantly upstaging his students."

"But it could be a moving ballad about how you two never see eye to eye, but you're still friends anyway," Rinoa suggested.

(ooc: HEEEEE.)

"...ballad?" Anakin thought about it. "Really, really no."

"And then we could grade you on which one sang better," she said, hoping to appeal to his sense of competition.

There was a long pause.

"Perhaps."

"So, you guys are just gonna give me the prize then?" Ah, humility. None of that here!

"I'm gonna... I dunno. Maybe make fun of Nate's family."

"Is that tradition for Thanksgiving, too?" Ariel, too curious about this new holiday, had to ask.

"That and getting into fights over politics," Deadpool replied helpfully. "Though maybe this time I won't get hired by Nate's dad to kill him for... whatever implausible reason they pick this year."

There was a slight pause.

"His family is not exactly normal," Ariel ventured, "is it?"

"He's older than his dad!"

GOD LOVE 'EM.

"How does that even work?"

Pause.

"Do I really want to know?"

"It involved a lot of time travel." A beat. "And some cloning." Another beat. "Also, a lil' bit of infidelity."

Ariel held up her hands. "Okay, that's enough. I think I get the picture now..."
