Unconventional Tactics, Tuesday, Period 2

Today, Reno's class had been told to meet in the library for their lesson. And to bring something to write with and a notebook, because they were going to need to actually do, like, research and crap today.

Not in those exact words, really, but what the inflections of what Reno thought often bled into the messages that he passed on regardless.

"Yo, Rookies! Today we're coverin' one of Fandom's finest traditions in time of crisis, zoto. Today, we're goin' to talk about the people who roll up their sleeves an' make their way here when we're faced with somethin' we don't quite understand, because there ain't no place on the island with more information available to us than right here in the library. We can cast spells and punch things in the face and burn barricades all we want, but it's the island's researchers who find out what it is we're up against, and how the hell to get rid of it."

He grinned, leaning back against the Library Aide's desk with his arms crossed over his chest.

"Your mission today is to pick something, any something, that has already hit the island or that you think potentially could, and to find out everything you can about it. Take notes, Rookies. I want you to hand in what you found by the time the period is through. You got everything in the library at your disposal, from books to newspapers to the computers over there, but first person I see who tries to sneak into Special Collections gets detention for life."

What? As much as he loved the idea of going in there after you, he really had better things to do today.

"Rinoa here's been nice enough to agree to help you mooks find what you're lookin' for, so don't be afraid to pester her with questions. Keeps her day interesting, yo."

Considering the last time the island had decided to play with alternate worlds and snatching people she'd wound up not wanting to talk to people for a week or two... it was probably unhealthy that that was what she was looking into.

Coupled with timeline difficulties.

For no reason. Really.

Her notes, anyway, were going to be quite detailed.

It was as good as any other time to actually look for all the previous...oddities? -disasters sounded a little too strong, perhaps- that had hit the island. The weirdest, the best, she thought, considering it actually made some kind of sense in the end.

Raven hadn't been around for the Weeping Angels, so she decided to look into that, starting with books and working her way to the computer if necessary.

She took very good notes!

Chloe was doing some serious research on alternate realities and magical comas. In the time she had been here, she had seen the people on this island having to deal with things like that twice.

While she hadn't been one of the students hurt in the vampire alternate universe, some of her friends had. Let's not even mention how she felt when the island started falling apart around them and people had started disappearing to horrible places. Well, at least some people had disappeared to actual places and not just stopped existing at all for a few days.

Chloe's pen was moving quickly over her notebook as she continued to research her chosen topic.

There weren't actual spellbooks on the shelves, so Tara picked a few more general this-is-what-magic-is kinds of books and started reading.

She was likely to be all indignant about the Salem Witch Trials again by the end of class.

Oh, boring. Research skills were supposed to be a thing, Kennedy got that, but that didn't mean she had to like it.

It wasn't easy, either, when she had to keep Archibald Charles the robobaby from tearing pages out of the books, so eventually Kennedy found herself parked at a study carrel with a bunch of picture books to amuse the droid, a couple of volumes on demons for herself, and a harried look on her face.

Those demonology books weren't going to get looked into that much; Archibald Charles kept tugging at her hair and trying to knock the books off the table.

Parenthood: so not her thing.

Lindsay was most interested in alternate realities and timelines since she had some experience with those. Since researching was something she actually enjoyed, it wasn't much of a surprise that she took copious amounts of notes.

Ben still found books to be kind of an archaic novelty, so he went straight for the electronic records. Since he'd been reminded of it last week, he was looking up the life cycle of zombie piranhas.

Claudia went with the most random thing she could think of, mostly just to see if there actually was anything in the library on it.

Oddly enough, there was some material on cursed, flying, vampiric violins. They were vulnerable to fire, of course, and oddly enough, afraid of cats.

Andros decided to research alternate realities and timelines so he set about to find out what he could on them.
