The Science of Deduction, Friday - 12/11

Despite the truly horrifying issues with today, Sherlock was in the classroom when it was time for students to filter in. Whether or not this actually meant there would be teaching was up for debate.

He scratched at the truly impressive bite mark on his neck with the sort of frantic energy of one about to explode spectacularly.

"One of you has a pack of cigarettes on them," he ground out, rolling up an already unbuttoned sleeve was practiced ease. The fact that he was so twitchy and out of sorts could possibly be explained by the fact that there were already two nicotine patches affixed to his arm. And now a third was added! Sherlock Holmes lived on the edge of stupidity it would seem. "I will fail you all if I don't get one now."

Why yes, yes he was serious. Aren't you glad you came to class for this?

"Now."

Well. This was... special.

Scully wondered if she could get the twin robot dolls to cry, and then run for it when Sherlock went for them.

Emma was perfectly aware why Sherlock needed a cigarette. Telepath. Highly amused telepath.

She fished her pack of Gitanes out of her purse and simply tossed them at him. Clearly, one was not going to be enough, and she enjoyed being a bitch. "Keep the pack."

"You get an A," Sherlock replied, taking one blissful drag. Oh god, he missed them.

Oh, the blissful state of being an alien who had no idea what needing a cigarette might mean, other than the Kwik-Stop-imparted knowledge that whatever they were, they apparently caused lung cancer, so why on earth would anyone use them?

Also, the blissful state of being a telepath who didn't actually read minds, so she could only vaguely guess that his mood had something to do with what everyone's mood had something to do with this week.

In short, Cally would just be sitting there with mildly raised eyebrows and trying not to think that he actually was rather attractive, if you liked them tall, pallid, and slightly mad.

"Um," said Ariel, frowning with disapproval at Mr. Holmes, but also with concern for herself and everyone in the room. "Smoking is bad for you."

Sherlock did the polite thing and blew smoke away from her at least. He was slightly relaxed, thank you. "And I would murder you all for one of these. I believe this to be the lesser of the two evils."

Jason didn't want to spend very long thinking about why Sherlock might need a cigarette. He fished through his backpack for the slightly beaten up pack he had in there - he didn't smoke very often, although boy had it been tempting this week - so he had enough that he was able to pull two out and put them on Sherlock's desk. "Uh, here you go," he said, trying not to make eye contact. Teachers so weren't supposed to have sex.

And yet there they were.

Though, if Sherlock had any say in the matter, he would have remained blissfully celibate. "And another A," he said dryly. "Who would have guessed this habit would allow you to pass."

It was like a train wreck. Claudia wondered if he'd actually explode first, or just pass out from nicotine poisoning.

Ben was going to stare in horror. A lot of horror.

James fished out a small pouch of tobac and tossed it at the distressed teacher. "You might chew it, but it works best with a pipe."

He needed a cigarette?

... he'd gotten laid?

Wait. Did that mean that he was actually human?

Rinoa had officially decided this was Cute.

And, well. If someone had gotten him to come around, maybe it wasn't entirely hopeless, with Squall? He at least had emotions now and then ...

When they tag in!

William had no idea what the patches were supposed to be, but he was going to regret not having a pack of cigarettes on hand.

Bruce would be a terrible TA in this class if he couldn't put the pieces together between these past two class periods.

Flying in the face of common sense and self-preservation, he chose to show off. He even rose his hand before doing speaking, although he didn't wait to be acknowledged. "I hear that workplace romances often don't end well, sir."

Which meant Sherlock could only respond with blowing smoke in Bruce's direction. "Shall we ask Ariel for a confirmation?"

"That's irrelevant. We're not coworkers," Bruce pointed out, trying to keep his annoyance in check. "You could have just asked Kūkaku for some cigarettes and gotten this out of the way before class, of course."

"She smokes a pipe." And wouldn't share.

"Ah. My mistake," Bruce said.

Well, now he had something to use against Sherlock if he ever needed to defend himself against biting commentary. Or provoke biting commentary.

And he also had to wonder if this meant Kūkaku's students were still supposed to blow up Sherlock's office.

...yes, Bruce. Yes.

"Yes it was."

This could only end in a crossover event that makes fanboys cry.

And for the love of god, give him a cigarette.

Mmmm. Coffee.
