Angua was not a stupid werewolf. She knew there was something in the air and had known very well to avoid it. She knew that she could not hold class and she knew that it would be a disaster to leave it in the hands of her TAs this week. Therefor, she'd come back on the island briefly enough to post a note on the door of the classroom, and then went back off into the safety of the mainland wilderness:

"CLASS IS CANCELED THIS WEEK.
Please sign in.
Then go home and take a cold shower.
And someone be so kind as to pass this on to Blysse and Blind Seer.

But there might have been a chance that Jake was feeling mellow. He'd got to kill a whole bunch of leeches and he actually didn't hate one of them right now. That was progress!

Anyway, Jake was hanging around for the moment at least so he could make sure Firekeeper knew. There was no crutch and the bruises were long gone now, but his movement was still careful.
