The Danger Shop was set up like an open field, the kind you might find in several states in the mid-west or further south. It was fairly warm by Danger Shop normal temperature standards and the sky was grey. A storm seemed to be lingering somewhere, but wasn't here yet.

On the ground in front of the Doctor were what looked like large lunchboxes. They were not lunchboxes. They were too big for normal lunchboxes and had delicate electronic equipment inside. Since the lids were open, everyone could see that.

"What I'm about to tell you to do," the Doctor said by way of introduction, "should never be done in the real world without proper means of getting away very, very fast. Does that count as good enough of a warning? Yes? Good." He didn't listen to any actual answers to that question. "In three minutes, a rather large tornado is going to form over there." He pointed in the direction of a big red barn on the far side of the open field. "A tornado is-" He started, then stopped. "You'll find out soon enough. They are incredibly dangerous, can be very destructive, involve very high winds and one will probably kill you if you get in the way. Not in here though. All pretend in here. Your job is to get one of these packages as close to the tornado as possible in order to use the equipment inside to scan it to better understand it. Do this without getting sucked up into it or hit by debris. In the real world, you'd be dead. Here, you'll probably only have the wind knocked out of you. Probably. The other job is to experience what this planet's extreme weather can be like." He checked his watch again. "A minute and a half. You can team up if you'd like. Better think about a good place to start."

"Well, if you ever came to Smallville, chances are something horrible would happen because that is just how it goes when I'm at home. Which explains why my parents haven't begged me to visit on break." Clark could've done without that verbalization.

"It can hardly be worse than some of the things that have already happened to me." Which she had no intention of elaborating on if at all possible. "And I'm sure they want you to visit."

A change in the subject? Cara would like to pounce on that, yes she would.

"Like what things?" Clark asked. There was no way he was letting that opportunity pass him by.

"Things I don't want to talk about." That she could say with complete honesty. "Not in public." Not at all.

"Not that I'll expect any sharing in private," Clark blurted.

"Well, some of us have secrets that don't make them look better when they're revealed," Cara snapped in return.

Stupid Richard and Kahlan, actually making her care about (select) others' opinions of her.

"And some of us would be perfectly happy not having secrets and just being normal like everyone else," he retorted, trying not to look hurt.

"Being stronger than usual doesn't make you abnormal." So someone had a slightly skewed sense of what constituted normal. "Not in a bad way."

Clark shook his head. "You'd say differently if you'd seen me with the red rock, doing whatever I felt like and abusing people."

"You wouldn't know the first thing about abusing people. You wouldn't even know how." Unlike other people involved in this conversation.

"Oh and you would? You're no evil mastermind, Cara. I know the good in you." At least, that was how she felt to him.

"I do know." Cara's voice was so very small, just then.

Cara's was never a small voice. It was enough to give Clark pause and take a moment to consider what she was saying to reply with honest feeling. "Do you think that should change anything?"

"You should stop thinking of me as a good person." Cara refused to look him in the eye. "I'm not."

"You are a good person," Clark reminded her quietly, believing the truth in his words. "I've seen proof enough."

"You're just saying that."

Because it wasn't like there was anything forcing anyone to be honest today...

"With you, I don't waste my breath by just saying things," Clark replied, almost amused by his own honesty there. "Probably because I care about you so much." All this from tornadoes? Really?

She'd make eye contact with him again at some point. Probably. "I also care for you."

And it only took some kind of honesty spell to drag it out of her.

And still Clark beamed at hearing it. "You do?"

"I wouldn't have said it if I didn't," Cara mumbled, because clearly this was an admission to be embarrassed about. "I don't talk things like this if I can help it."

"I'd noticed." It was difficult not to. "I want to ask more since I get the feeling you'd answer me instead of distracting me away from thinking, but then I think how I'd feel if someone took that kind of advantage with me so I'll just shut up now." If he could keep his mouth closed for five seconds.

That got an actual smile. "Thank you, for not taking advantage. Most people would."

"I know." He'd almost had that happen once. Now was the time for purposeful distraction. "Wanna see if you can rescue me from a tornado?"

Cara was a fan of purposeful distraction, something no doubt would shock Clark.

"Yes." Just because someone was invulnerable didn't mean you couldn't rescue them.
