Technically speaking, Gabrielle was here today; she just happened to be latching onto any excuse necessary to head into the stacks and reshelve books, or check on the coffee supply, or investigate some nonexistent noise.

If whatever was getting to everyone else on the island today was affecting her too, she was a little too lost in her own thoughts to notice at the moment.

So the library was open, and the Monday aide was on duty . . . if a little scarce.

No, she won't talk about how her week went. Actually, she isn't likely to be very talkative at all today. Mopey, on the other hand? There's a good chance of that.

Whose daily supply of coffee wasn't at any risk, despite Gabrielle's mood. It's nice to have some things stay the same.

He'd already had coffee at the Perk, but more was never a bad thing. Wheeling a shelving cart back tot he poetry section, he reflected that everything still had a certain special shimmer today.

Not that I'm gonna be much nicer to poor Gab in the upcoming weeks, either. It'll just be . . . less WTFy. A little. I think.
