Classic American Film, Thursday, Period 4

When the students arrived to class today, they would find the classroom surprisingly Ziva-less. The television and DVD player were set up as usual, and there was a note on the board for them.

In honor of Election Day (which was Tuesday, for those of you who are not American), this week's movie will be Mr. Jones Goes to Virginia. Yes, it is in black and white. You will all survive, I am certain. For your assignment, tell me: would you ever run for a public office? Why or why not?

Ziva certainly wouldn't, unless there was an Office of Stabbing People. She'd be able to keep all of her campaign promises then.

Until recently, Bod hadn't really seen government in action. He'd learned, of course, but he hadn't experienced or really even been privy to current events around the world.

That made the movie a little hard to understand but enjoyable nonetheless.

Bod decided he wouldn't run for office and wrote a detailed essay about how he didn't think he had the experience, how he was a little too strange to appeal to mass society and how he didn't think he was ready for such a vast and difficult responsibility.

George's essay was very short. It basically said that she was thoroughly un-electable, so it was a moot point whether or not to run. And then added that she wouldn't run, anyway, because it seemed like it was either a thankless job where nothing went right -- and she wasn't a masochist -- or something that people got into so they could dive right into that swamp of corruption -- and she wasn't evil.

Hee, Office of Stabbing People.

. . . and now I'm right back to flailing over the last Red Hood issue again.
