Reserves: Danger Shop, After Classes

Today, the reserves group had been told to meet in the Danger Shop, and that it would be a good idea to bring along their weapon of choice while they were at it. The usual assortment of coffee and cookies was there, along with a fairly impressive amount of Halloween candy. It was on sale after the holiday? Score!

"Heya, guys," Zack practically chirped, sword on his shoulder and a grin on his face. "Today, we thought we'd do something a little different, and pit you up against an opponent who has a bit of an advantage against you all!"

Or, rather, eight advantages against you, as your Danger Shop opponent today happens to have ten tentacles. Being a giant squid will do that.

For some reason, the tentacles thing concerned Maladicta more than she could put into words. And made her more than just a bit glad that she never wore short skirts.

"So, we hope you will all give a thought to how teamwork can make this battle go far easier for you." A beat. "And no, using someone as a human shield does not count."

Kennedy could put into words exactly why the tentacles thing was wigging her out, but hopefully you'd forgive her for not really being up to doing that today; you'd just have to deal with the distasteful look on her face expressing it for her.

"Yeah, human shields are right out, guys," she said, patting the stock of her crossbow. Note how she was opting for a ranged attack on this thing? No hentai nightmares for her, thank you very much. "But we'll give you a break and let you have a few minutes to figure out a game plan. Against these odds, that's kinda fair, right?"

It should come as no surprise that despite having no classes that day, Faramir was on his way towards the library. It would however come as a surprise to some (perhaps), that certain people (or vampires in this instant) could make him deviate from his plan.

"Did the teacher make you leave the classroom?" he asked, not having glanced inside the door to the danger shop yet.

"And they could not convince you to part with your coffee," he concluded instantly. He had met her. "I thought that you met outside."

He knew they did, he had however so far failed to join a meeting.

It would remain unsaid as Faramir was still uncertain of how this room worked. Perhaps they should organise newbie tours.

"And who are they fighting?" he asked, glancing past her inside the door. "Perhaps I should ask what instead. That is a strange creature."

At least he did not know about hentai or Japan.

"Are they a danger here?"

It was a valid question, fighting something with that many tentacles could prove challenging.

Faramir hummed and he leaned a shoulder against the doorframe so he could keep an eye on what the group was doing.

"I do not think they would cause us much of a problem," he mused.

"Are you saying you could not easily take out that giant squid yourself?" he asked with a teasing smile.

He grinned, but nodded in agreement. "It is important to learn to fight as a team. It means there is less risk that you end up shooting one of your allies instead of your enemy."

"I was on my way to the library," he replied, turning his attention back towards her. It was a much nicer view after all. "I trust that you will keep me safe if a giant squid were to attack me."

"A skirt?" he asked, suffering from some huge culture differences. "No, I believe that I am safe for now then."

"Yes," he frowned and rubbed at his chin. "I remember for some reason following the soldiers in town around. Their weapons were worrying."

No, he did not understand why or why he was speaking so strangely either. "I did not see you anywhere."

"A docile dragon?" he asked, blinking. "The island is giving you plenty of opportunity to be a man, it seems."

The island should stop that, he preferred her very much like this.

Kennedy looked a lot less eager to get into things today than she usually did. Oddly. That didn't mean she wasn't keeping an eye on everyone else, though. That, actually, she might be doing more intently than usual.

Zack totally had no idea what was such a big deal about the squid, really. He fought monsters with tentacles all of the time, back home!
