Library Open 10/25

Methos unlocks the library and settles behind the counter. "And the reaction to Special Collections reopening is... apathy," he mutters to himself.

There's a stack of books that need to be cataloged then stickered with "Dangerous" stickers as needed. Methos sits down and begins reading the texts to identify them and catalog them. Methos sips his morning coffee from this mug (minions are encouraged to fill said mug).

[OOC: We are actually going to put together a list of what has already been cataloged in Special Collections, based largely but not entirely off the Invisible Library. If you need a specific book (or a book that has specific information), please let the library staff know and we'll pull it out of a plot hole see if it is in the uncataloged stack.]

Good afternoon, Professor...

I was wondering what, exactly, the Special Collections holds.

Im looking for some very rare and old scrolls.

Thank you, very much Professor.
*goes in to look through the books*

*blinks, frowns*

Hey, he didn't sign in. Is that--*rifles through library rules booklet*--is that okay? Since he's a professor an' all?

OOC: Dude, he so didn't read the rules. We have to make a separate post for him now. And he has to roleplay through looking for what he wants. And he can't check them out.

We didn't make any rules about teachers. Frak! We need to do that. Methos?
swerval_zero: (*facepalm*)

(ooc: *headdesk* Frak! indeed.)

"He needs a library card first," says Janet. "He's never been in here before!"

Squall! We are so not responsible for whatever happens to him, right?

"Not if he goes in without a library card!"

Her eyes widened. "Oh. I hope Special Collections doesn't get mad at him. I don't think it likes people who don't have library cards."
swerval_zero: (oh squall)

[personal profile] swerval_zero 2005-10-25 08:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh. This could be bad. This could be really grindin' bad. *turns to Professor Methos* What were you thinkin', lettin' him go in there?

Gives Methos a look. Gives Special Collections an uncertain look. Gives Methos a look again. "You know, this job is going to look like hell on your resume."

OOC: We need to roleplay through you looking for what you want, and it's not able to be checked out. Just FYI. Can you give a general idea of what you want? Then one of us will make a post as Special Collections to see what you can find.

OOC: The library staff is waiting to hear from Professor Gandalf before making a Special Collections post as we don't want it to get completely lost in the flurry of posts this place generates. Please remember that no one can remove books from Special Collections per normal IC library rules and that to do so requires roleplaying through the theft of library books. And that library staff monitors what everyone looks at, so we need you to let us know this.

Professor Methos, he doesn' have a library card!

"Special Collections is going to turn him into a gerbil or something, isn't it?"
swerval_zero: (where the books live)

[personal profile] swerval_zero 2005-10-25 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Probably. An' how are we gonna explain that to Dean Bristow?
janet_fraiser: (Default)

[personal profile] janet_fraiser 2005-10-25 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm sorry, Dean Bristow, but your professor got turned into a gerbil by Special Collections because he went in there before applying for a library card?" asked Janet. "We could write a really nice letter of apology and put it in a 'sorry you've been transfigured' Hallmark card."

"If Hallmark made 'sorry you've been transfigured' cards, that is. Which they should. We need them at this place."

[personal profile] swerval_zero 2005-10-25 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm sure the card shop in town stocks 'em. Should've gotten one for Julian.

So we're agreed this is in no way our fault?
janet_fraiser: (Default)

[personal profile] janet_fraiser 2005-10-25 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
"There is no way it could possibly be our fault," says Janet firmly. "He was on his way in when we got here. We couldn't stop him even if we'd been in time to try." She frowned. "Do they stock specific cards for types of transfigurations? One for animate objects and one for inanimate, maybe?"
