Celtic Studies classes for Tuesday

Camulus is looking thoughtful this morning, and all traces of his earlier pissiness and chocolate addiction seem to have dissapated. The moose head is looking almost rakish this morning. A poster advertising the La na Gaidhlig on October 29th is hanging on the wall, including information on a Gaelic play, a ceilidh, and a milling frolic. All in Gaelic, of course.

"Feasgar math, class." He sighs. "There are only two students left in my Gaelic class. As such, I will no longer be holding regular classes, but will offer Gaelic tutorial to any interested students. This is open to any students in the school, not only my current student roster.

"That said, on to Arthurian Traditions.

"Last week Ivanova was kind enough to share her own experience with the living Arthurian legend and I asked you to think of some other instances where Arthur has been literally or figuratively resurrected to deal with crisis. For today's class I'd like you to share these stories and we can discuss them. I'd also like to hear your suggestions for a class display for Parents Weekend." He glares around at the class. "I want to hear everyone participate. Potter, Halliwell, Scissorhands, Adama, Belthazor. The only one of you to actually consistently show up is Angelus."

"Really? How very interesting," Camulus purrs, leaning forward. "I'd love to hear about it. Perhaps in a less . . . scholastic setting. And by oral and written, I was also referring to physical means of transmission. I find that those of more advanced age technology underappreciate the value of a good yarn."

You doubt my sincerity? I am hurt. You wound me.

"We could get together for coffee some time. I love a good story. Are you paying attention?" she offers not quite neutrally.

It's my nature to distrust. You know you love that about me.

Camulus opens his mouth to state that he doesn't like coffee, realises that this is another of his "lessons", and grumbles internally. "Coffee with you would be a pleasure. The telling of stories is always something I enjoy. And with your company, Beka, what could be better?" His teeth were starting to hurt from the sweetness in his mouth. "Name the time and place and I will be your humble servant." He pauses. "In a fully figurative sense. Don't start getting ideas."

One trait among many. I could write you a list, if you prefer.

"Let me check my schedule for the week. I have an assignment that is my top priority. I'll get back to you, Camulus. I wouldn't miss the opportunity to help further your socialization to spend time with my favorite er, one of my favorites professor." She cocked her head, smiling pleasantly. "I'd rather have a friend, than a servant."


Hmm. It's tempting. But I'd rather hear them revealed one by painful one.

Camulus inclines his head courteously. "Do check your schedule. It would give me the greatest pleasure to be counted as . . . a friend. And as such, to spend some friendly time with you."

Friends exhibit warmth, not courtesy. Work on that. "I'll give you a call or stop by your office. In the meantime, there was an assignment we were discussing," she chided, bringing them back to the classroom conversation.

Usually better to ask students out after class, not in the middle. But points from me for making me feel important.
