Loki's apathy was still pretty prevalent but he wasn't going to make this a movie day. He was certain he'd only get yelled at or lectured by some smart mouthed student and today, he might have tried to smite the kid what with his mood.

"So, inspired by one of your fellow students taking issue with my last class lesson," he said, managing a smirk, "today, you're going to learn an important part of the badass persona. Being a fucking smart mouthed, back talking twit. Look, badasses can follow authority but they're not always going to follow authority. That would make them subservient and too obedient. You've gotta rebel and defy authority sometimes. That's what makes things interesting and that's the way you're really gonna garner some attention."

Whether that be positive or negative depended on how you handled the rebellion.

"You've gotta know how to backtalk though. You can't just find your boss and call him a cow because you hate your job. That's weak and lame and it's gonna get you fired. If you're gonna tell your boss off, you better be prepared to make it rip roaring. You better have original, active insults ready, you better not fucking stutter and you'd better know your targets. If your boss or guardian or what the fuck ever isn't going to be affected by back talk, it's gonna be worthless. Pick your spots, know your targets. You can yap until you're blue in the face but you're not gonna make any headway unless you know who you're mouthing off to and how to approach it. Am I saying to do some research? Fuck yes. So, that's what you're gonna do today. Pair up and chat with each other. Find out basic things and then, out of nowhere, start mouthing off to each other. Back talk, rebel, try and get the upper hand. See if it works. Go to it."

Please. Quinn was born for this. She leaned back in her chair, trying to see if anyone else in class was even worth the time it'd take to tear them apart.

Wesley was possibly insane, so it made sense to him to partner up with Quinn. Poor, poor Wes.

"Er... Would you like to be partners?" he asked.

Quinn raised an eyebrow, because she didn't really see Wesley as the verbal bitchslap type. But she was willing to play along, so she gave him a little smile.

"Sure," she said. "Normal conversation first, right? Got any plans for the weekend?"

Well, it wasn't that he was capable of doing the activity properly, just that he was a little scared of how Loki would react to him not participating. So he was making the attempt.

"Not as yet," he said guardedly. "And yourself?"

Quinn shook her head. "It's too boring here," she said. "Probably I'll work on Glee club or Homecoming stuff, go for a run."

Wow. She had such a thrilling life.

"Glee club? I didn't know you were involved with that," he said, trying to match that up with his mental picture of Quinn. It didn't work all that well. Didn't you say your boyfriend from home participated in something along those lines?"

"That's why I signed up," Quinn said. Well, that and a desire to keep an eye on Ariel around Puck, but why share that? "I should try to share his interests, right?"

"I suppose," he conceded, though the image of Quinn in Glee Club seemed pretty weird to him. "How are you enjoying it so far?"

"It's fine," Quinn shrugged, and rested her chin on her folded arms. "What's wrong, Wesley? Do you think I can't sing and dance?"

... apparently, it was time to start the bitchsmack portion of the conversation.

Ooh. Gotta be careful here, Wes.

He tried for diplomacy. "It's not that I don't think you can sing and dance," he said cautiously. "Simply that it seems - incongruous with your other interests."

Quinn's eyebrow inched up. "Oh, and hacking around with swords and nerding it up in the library have so much in common?"

He had totally missed the point of this exercise, yes.

"Well, actually," he said, dropping into lecture-mode, "both require a very common skill set. Focus, for example, and familiarity with historical information of a sort..."

"And twirling around and singing back-up on some pop song is absolutely nothing like with chanting and doing flips in a short skirt," Quinn said, with annoyance that wasn't really all that feigned -- she didn't especially like being lectured. "Wesley, swear to God, sometimes you're such a geek."

This was true.

That didn't stop him from sputtering, "I - I'll have you know I'm no such thing! And at least I'm not rude."

Rude and... following the lesson, though. Can't overlook that.

"Geeky, yet stupid," Quinn assessed. "I might be rude, but at least I remember what class we're in."

That ... almost made her feel a little bad.

Oh, right. Badass class. He totally knew that.

"I personally see no reason to behave in such a manner simply for a class assignment - of dubious merit, I might add," he sniffed. "Whereas you, for example, seem to have no problem with this behavior regardless of circumstance."

He bit his lip. Too far?

Quinn rolled her eyes. "No," she corrected. "I have no problem acting this way when somebody deserves it or it's going to get me what I want. Usually somebody deserves it anyhow. Anyhow, what gives you the right to say Professor Loki's class isn't totally valuable?"

That last sentence, she thought, was stretching it.
