Boom-De-Yada Science - Danger Shop, Wednesday, Period 1 [Week 3]

The Doctor didn't say hello today. Very rude of him. Instead, he launched into a lecture about why the sky was blue, the different types of clouds and the layers of Earth's atmosphere.

The important part was that while this was going on, they were all standing on a vast field of clouds. Yes, up in the sky. "Now," he said once he talked non-stop without allowing interruptions (anyone who tried got a single finger - no, not that one - pointed at them to shush them while he prattled on about the topic at hand), "you might notice we're standing on clouds. They're not normally solid, so don't try this at home. The Danger Shop has been reprogrammed so that the clouds are solid and bouncy." He bounced up and down to demonstrate. It was like a gigantic outdoor trampoline only fluffy and soft. "You won't fall through. Try not to run into the invisible walls." They were still there, after all, even though they couldn't be seen.

And with that, he started bouncing around.

"Oh you know," Clark shuffled on his feet a bit, remembering that the cloud was solid and being up high was fine. Really. "Just hanging out in a cloud miles above the ground."
wrongkindofsith: (Who's the prettiest Lord Rahl then?)

"Not a fan of heights?" In a gesture that looked far more casual and absent than it actually was, Cara reached up to brush his shoulder.

"Not really," Clark said, finding that if he focused on the fact that Cara seemed to be trying to console him it actually felt better. "They're just kinda...high."
wrongkindofsith: (And I will love you and pet you...)

Cara would deny she was doing any such thing if anyone were to suggest it, regardless of the fact those denials would be blatant lies. "I doubt we're more than a foot off the floor," she pointed out, lightly stroking a thumb along the side of his neck. "Less probably"

There really was no avoiding a little smile at that. "And it is unnaturally bouncy," Clark remarked, trying to go along with Cara and ignore his stupidity.
wrongkindofsith: (How you doin?)

Cara refrained from making a smart reply about a lack of properly supportive undergarments because there were distractions, and then there were unwelcome distractions, and she knew exactly where she wanted to keep his focus.

Instead she gave him a small smile of her own. "Less damp too."

Clark didn't get it at first and then he realized and smiled. "Right, with all the water! It'd be cool if it rained."
wrongkindofsith: (Her face doesn't break when she smiles)

"It'd certainly make for an interesting view." She was referring to the landscape. Mostly. Largely. Partly.

Look, it wasn't her fault the clothes in this place were made from fabric that went like that when it got wet.

"Guess it wouldn't bother you much," Clark said, realizing the leather had that advantage. Almost sad, actually.
wrongkindofsith: (I am ready for funtimez)

Mord'Sith leathers mightn't have turned transparent, but they could get uncomfortably clingy. "Ever actually tried to peel someone out of wet leathers? Especially when you're dealing with some idiot who cinched her corset too tight to begin with."

She hadn't actually meant to say that last part out loud.

...it was like there was never any height issue at all! Amazing how that worked when words like 'peel' and 'corset' came into play. "No, that...would be a new experience for me!"
wrongkindofsith: (Oh no. We're all about to die horribly.)

"Not for me," Cara replied, muttering under her breath "Oh, Cara, I know we just fell into a river, it's the middle of winter, and we need to get out of these and warm each other up before we both freeze to death, but we can't do that because I forgot how to dress this morning."

On the upside, any mental images caused by Cara's unintentional oversharing would probably help keep Clark's mind off heights for the rest of the class.

Most definitely that was the case, though now he was really intrigued. "So you and your friends..." He didn't know how to ask about dirty things.
wrongkindofsith: (I'm a viking!)

[personal profile] wrongkindofsith 2010-09-16 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
"Me and my friends what? Helped each other dress?" Cara might have been teasing him a little. "Scrubbed each other's backs?" Make that definitely teasing him.

Clark blushed just a little at her teasing, scrubbing at his face with one hand to try and hide it. "Nevermind, I'll just leave it to my imagination."

Unless that was worse, oh god.

Cara was having far more fun than was probably good for her making Clark blush, but it wasn't like there was any way it could backfire on her, really. "If that's what you'd like," she said, dropping her voice low enough only he could hear. "But if you ever need to check the details..."

Mean, Cara, mean.

Oh wow, she was cruel. "You have another class later, huh?" Clark seemed to recall this always happening to him.

[personal profile] wrongkindofsith 2010-09-16 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
"It's not until third period though." Cara didn't point out that left a whole hour free before then, she wanted to see if Clark's brain was still working enough to figure it out on his own first.

Re: Listen to the Lecture

[identity profile] redandblueblur.livejournal.com 2010-09-16 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
Right, his brain needed to work! "So you're saying we should meet for lunch?" His brain was now focused on if he'd just asked her out and if she was going to do that thing where she rejected hanging out in public.
wrongkindofsith: (Well your face is stupid. Like this!)

Re: Listen to the Lecture

[personal profile] wrongkindofsith 2010-09-16 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
This really was her own fault for trying to overload his brain in the first place. "We could do that." Two people eating in the same place at the same time, deliberately, didn't mean anything, right? "But it's only first period now."

Re: Listen to the Lecture

[identity profile] redandblueblur.livejournal.com 2010-09-16 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
"Right, and then we could eat and you could tell me all about you and your friends," Clark said, proud that he'd managed not to choke while saying this.
wrongkindofsith: (Your mouth moves and nonsense comes out)

Re: Listen to the Lecture

[personal profile] wrongkindofsith 2010-09-16 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
He was lucky Cara thought he was cute, not that she'd admit it to anyone, even herself.

"What I meant was neither of us have anything planned next period, right?" Maybe if she dropped a heavy enough hint he'd notice when it landed on his foot.

Re: Listen to the Lecture

[identity profile] redandblueblur.livejournal.com 2010-09-16 10:38 am (UTC)(link)
"Uh...no we don't," Clark realized with her massive hinting. "Did you want to talk when we're done here?"
wrongkindofsith: (How you doin?)

Re: Listen to the Lecture

[personal profile] wrongkindofsith 2010-09-16 10:48 am (UTC)(link)
"Yes, Clark, that's exactly what I want to do." Cara was well aware she wasn't the subtlest person alive in this area, but really. "Somewhere private."

Re: Listen to the Lecture

[identity profile] redandblueblur.livejournal.com 2010-09-16 10:54 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh yeah? I was missing that part," Clark teased, smile in full force now as he reached to give her hand a little squeeze.
