Boom-De-Yada Science - Danger Shop, Wednesday, Period 1 [Week 3]

The Doctor didn't say hello today. Very rude of him. Instead, he launched into a lecture about why the sky was blue, the different types of clouds and the layers of Earth's atmosphere.

The important part was that while this was going on, they were all standing on a vast field of clouds. Yes, up in the sky. "Now," he said once he talked non-stop without allowing interruptions (anyone who tried got a single finger - no, not that one - pointed at them to shush them while he prattled on about the topic at hand), "you might notice we're standing on clouds. They're not normally solid, so don't try this at home. The Danger Shop has been reprogrammed so that the clouds are solid and bouncy." He bounced up and down to demonstrate. It was like a gigantic outdoor trampoline only fluffy and soft. "You won't fall through. Try not to run into the invisible walls." They were still there, after all, even though they couldn't be seen.

And with that, he started bouncing around.

Clark blushed just a little at her teasing, scrubbing at his face with one hand to try and hide it. "Nevermind, I'll just leave it to my imagination."

Unless that was worse, oh god.

Cara was having far more fun than was probably good for her making Clark blush, but it wasn't like there was any way it could backfire on her, really. "If that's what you'd like," she said, dropping her voice low enough only he could hear. "But if you ever need to check the details..."

Mean, Cara, mean.

Oh wow, she was cruel. "You have another class later, huh?" Clark seemed to recall this always happening to him.

"It's not until third period though." Cara didn't point out that left a whole hour free before then, she wanted to see if Clark's brain was still working enough to figure it out on his own first.

Right, his brain needed to work! "So you're saying we should meet for lunch?" His brain was now focused on if he'd just asked her out and if she was going to do that thing where she rejected hanging out in public.

This really was her own fault for trying to overload his brain in the first place. "We could do that." Two people eating in the same place at the same time, deliberately, didn't mean anything, right? "But it's only first period now."

"Right, and then we could eat and you could tell me all about you and your friends," Clark said, proud that he'd managed not to choke while saying this.

He was lucky Cara thought he was cute, not that she'd admit it to anyone, even herself.

"What I meant was neither of us have anything planned next period, right?" Maybe if she dropped a heavy enough hint he'd notice when it landed on his foot.

"Uh...no we don't," Clark realized with her massive hinting. "Did you want to talk when we're done here?"

"Yes, Clark, that's exactly what I want to do." Cara was well aware she wasn't the subtlest person alive in this area, but really. "Somewhere private."

"Oh yeah? I was missing that part," Clark teased, smile in full force now as he reached to give her hand a little squeeze.

"Good thing I reminded you then." Cara only kept holding his hand because she wanted to keep his mind off the heights. Only that. Really. Shut up, little voice that sounded like Kahlan.
