Library [09/12]

Today was a tired day in the library for Jono. He'd made what in retrospect he could only call a ridiculously stupid purchase yesterday, but it had been a very pretty ridiculously stupid purchase, and so he'd been up half the night with headphones plugged into his amp, trying to decide which of his guitars had a better sound to it.

The jury was still out on that one.

As a result, today was going to be a particularly lazy day. Jonothon got most of the returned books reshelved, and even managed to tame some of the clutter that had managed to accumulate on the desk. Beyond that? Jono's attitude toward the universe at large was going to be a whole world of, 'Meh.'

"Be a useful aide," Genesis said, "and kindly show me where that would be."

So kind he was. So tolerant.

"I hear tell that it's rude to interrupt someone while busy--perhaps I was waiting until you'd ceased reading to speak up."

He hadn't been. But he hadn't stared for all that long either.

"Moods?" Genesis asked, following the rude boy with amusement in his eyes. "Yours, perhaps?"

He would not put it past this aide, this grumpy touchy aide, to mislead him deliberately.

"Are you quite finished?" Genesis drawled sharply, his smile edged and trending just a little on the vicious side. "If a simple stare a few seconds long discomfits you so very much that you descend to insulting other peoples wardrobes, perhaps you ought to hide under a blanket and never come out."

"Especially," he added insultingly, "as from my question most would assume I am new to the island. Which is, in fact, true."

And thus he couldn't be expected to know that a library had moods.

"So far," he couldn't help but note, "all of my questions have been related to the library."

Because that was going to help things. Really. Angeal would be so disappointed in him. But the aide had started it.

And Genesis finished things.

"For the moment," Genesis allowed, "this is sufficient."

That was maybe even a thanks if you squinted really hard and tilted your head a hundred and eighty degrees and ignored the way disdain dripped off of his words and--

Okay. It wasn't a thanks.

It was, however, an excuse for the aide to escape. Genesis would bother him later, should he be bored.
