Today was a tired day in the library for Jono. He'd made what in retrospect he could only call a ridiculously stupid purchase yesterday, but it had been a very pretty ridiculously stupid purchase, and so he'd been up half the night with headphones plugged into his amp, trying to decide which of his guitars had a better sound to it.

The jury was still out on that one.

As a result, today was going to be a particularly lazy day. Jonothon got most of the returned books reshelved, and even managed to tame some of the clutter that had managed to accumulate on the desk. Beyond that? Jono's attitude toward the universe at large was going to be a whole world of, 'Meh.'

//Busy,// came Jono's immediate reply, because in the grand scheme of things, it was far easier than actually paying too much attention to how he actually had been doing. The answer to that question tended to lean toward 'never quite as well as I ought to be.' //Well... not right now, obviously. But in general.//

Yes. That summarized that nicely, Jono.

Faramir studied him for a moment, but he did not press. "And here I am ready to make you be busy even now."

//More questions, is it?// Jono could live with questions. It would keep him busy, but it was the sort of busy that really didn't require much effort, so long as they were easy ones like, 'what is an airport.'

"Yes," Faramir nodded. "I have been attempting to read the information that was given to us in one of my classes." He grimaced a little. "It isn't as simple as it is when someone reads it out to you first."

That got a blink out of Jonothon. And then a small nod. Okay, this was definitely something that he could handle.

//You'd like me to go over yer notes with you, then?// His gaze shifted toward the armload of notes that Faramir had brought in. //I think I can handle that, mate. Which class is it for?//

"Macro-Tactics," Faramir replied as he put his notes down. "If you wouldn't mind? Obviously we cannot go over them all, but I would appreciate whatever help you are willing or able to invest."

Ah, that was the class with Kerrigan, wasn't it? Jono squinted a little at the notes that came to rest on his desk, and then took a moment's pause. There would have been a sigh, right about there, if lungs had been part of this equation.

//I don't mind, no. I don't have anything else to do, really. Are there any parts in particular that you need help with more than others?//

"I shall have to find some way to repay your kindness," Faramir told him, knowing that he was giving Jonothon a lot of work here.

"There's a few words that I can't quite seem to decipher correctly, and I've indicated a few passages that are giving me trouble," he said, shuffling through the notes.

Jono shook the offer for repayment off with a wave of his hand.

//This is part of my job, mate. Don't worry about payin' me back for it.//

And that was going to be that, if he had any say in the matter. He held out his hands for the notes, and after looking over them for a moment, he began to read.

Faramir did not argue with the reasoning, but that did not mean that he wasn't going to try to think of something eventually.

The spent a while talking, figuring everything out until Faramir thought that perhaps he might be overburdening Jonothon.

"Thank you," he said finally, piling up the notes again. "It does make more sense now. Perhaps I should suggest to the teacher to give you credit for this."

//That's... quite alright,// Jono replied, squinting one eye a little and reaching a hand up to toy awkwardly at the bandages along the back of his neck. //Anybody would've done the same, I think.//

... That, and Kerrigan kind of unnerved Jono, some. He could probably do just fine in life without the credit, really.

"Not anybody," Faramir shook his head. "Do not cut yourself. I am grateful for your assistance and hope that you have no yet grown weary of my many questions."

//Between th'two of us, mate? Th'questions are a bit refreshing. And really, going over yer notes this way means that I'm learning a little something, as well.//

And really, Jonothon would never complain about an opportunity like that.

"You are interested in tactics as well then?" Faramir asked instantly.

//To a point,// Jono admitted. //I have no interest in leading armies, mind. But you never really know when something like this might come in handy, either.//

Especially back where he was from. It wasn't an easy world for anybody who occasionally ran around in tights with an X on his belt.

"No, even if it would be preferable if one were never to need it," he said, somewhat wistful. "It has been an interesting class so far."

//Any time you find yer having difficulty with th'words, mate, feel free to look me up and I'll give you a hand with them,// Jono decided. //I've got no complaints about reading over things like that. Makes me feel useful, if nothing else.//

"And you have been very useful these past few weeks," Faramir said lightly, even as he understood how important it could be. "I hope I shall not make you regret your offer."
