Library, Saturday [9/11]

While he no longer had those hands to assist him in his work, the library was managing just fine with Blackagar shelving books. It might have been because he was doing a bit more reading than working, but that was only to be expected of a normal, German teenager.

Yes.

Today, however, featured dog training books. None of which gave advice for dogs the size of small ponies, sadly.

No, of course not. As far as he was concerned he was their widdle puppy.

Medusalith smiled back at him and asked, "Enjoying yourself?" then tossed her head and said, "Well. Perhaps I am." Ha.

And he would always be a little puppy, darn it.

She was here so of course he was enjoying himself. Was she enjoying her classes then? Since she was the studious one of the pair now.

"We went off the island," Medusalith reported. "To a planetarium." She frowned. "I had to hide my hair. And..." she hesitated, nibbled at her lip, and said, "I seem to find myself...employed."

...wait, what? There really was no mistaking that particular look.

"I didn't mean to!" she said, her hair beginning to whip up in distress. "It just sort of happened, before I realized what was happening!"

Where exactly did she work now?

...possibly so he could go visit and see if this was for real.

...oh. That.

"It's a shop that sells art," she said. "The name's...oh...something to do with time? Fourth Dimension, I think? I just stopped in to look! I'll be working there on Mondays," she said, sounding somewhat rueful about the prospect.

They... sell art? That part wasn't exactly making sense to him right now. Shouldn't art be available for anyone to just see?

"It's so human," she said. "The art is in the shop, and people come and give her money--or, I suppose, me--and then they can take the art away to their own homes to look at. Or do whatever they like with, I suppose."

They hoarded away beautiful things? That seemed terrible selfish of them, if you asked Blackagar.

Humans made less and less sense the more they learned about them.

"It's very selfish," she agreed. "I miss home." Then she made herself brighten up and said, "Still, I suppose I can learn about their art, and the woman who runs the shop seemed to think I have good taste."

Reaching over, Blackagar brushed his fingers over her hair. Perhaps they could take a visit back sometime soon? It would be nice to see their cousins, after all.

"I don't know that the Council would like that," she sighed. "They're still terrified you'll sneeze," she teased, because of course he wouldn't. That was just silly.

He doubted they'd ever stop worrying about him, to be honest. They could... invite her sister here then? Crystal would, well, probably show her being around humans wasn't so bad after all.

Oh, Crystal.

"That's because they're stupid." She froze. "I didn't say that. I suppose there's nothing to keep Crystal from visiting. She was rather jealous, you know. It might cheer her up."

Yes, and she could also steal her shoes and make out with all the boys.

"It's too bad our cousins really can't visit," she sighed. The facade that they were human would fall right down.

Of course she didn't. So that little smile at it didn't happen either. Really.

That would be nice if the others could come. Maybe somewhere in between? Like New York City where the mutants ran free?

And then of course, there was Blackagar's weirdo brother, but they weren't talking about him. "I'm just being silly," she said. Silly was not something she often was, but she was, after all, still a teenager.

Maximus was... special. And yes, very weird.

Silly would involve them both doing something, though. Like Blackagar taking her hand to attempt to dance like he'd read about.

Albeit poorly.

"What are we doing?" Medusalith wondered, but she went along with it, because, well. Blackagar.

He shrugged just a bit, more sheepish than anyone would ever see him act. They were being a bit silly, right?

This was his attempt at silly, darn it.

And he certainly deserved to be a bit silly, so Medusalith supposed they were going to attempt to dance, here.

Which pretty much just ended up being odd swaying and foot movements. Maybe if he had the book in front of him, this would work out better.

But for now, with no music, it was just... fun.

Medusalith was pretty sure you couldn't learn to dance from books, which made this yet another way Blackagar broke her heart, but she hadn't really had a better option than 'locked in a room' either. So she was going along with it and making sure to keep her feet clear.

Even if he did end up stepping on her toes once or twice. But each wince was apology for that.

They should try this somewhere outside the library next time.

She didn't need those toes anyway. "I do believe you owe me an outing," she said.

He did! They could try another of the restaurants on the island or... maybe venture onto the mainland?

They passed here, surely it couldn't be hard out there.

He could look on that internet for a romantic German restaurant to go to! Then they would have experience with their adopted culture. It was the perfect plan.

"That sounds like a wonderful plan," Medusalith agreed. "We should probably know what we're talking about."

Bowing down, he took her hand and gave it a kiss. If she would be so kind as to accompany him next weekend?
