So You Say You Want a Revolution: Week 2, Period 3

"You all found your way back," Aly said with a teasing smile as the bell rang for the class to begin. "I'd be impressed, but I've met Fandom students before."

"Before we start, I'd like to introduce my TAs for this term - Ino Yamanaka, Rinoa Heartilly, Percy Jackson, and Nico di Angelo. Four isn't usual, I know, but we're trying something new this time around. I'd like each of the TAs to head up a small group of their classmates. When we work in teams or have small discussions, that's the group you'll be with."

She went to flip over the whiteboard to show the groups she'd set up.

*Percy Jackson
Cally
Faramir
Jason Todd
Makita

*Rinoa Heartilly
Cara
Kyle Reese
Leda
Proto

*Ino Yamanaka
Cloud Strife
Karla
Leia Organa
Shira

*Nico di Angelo
Elphaba Thropp
Katniss Everdeen
Luke Castellan

Aly glanced at the groups then back at the class. "If you hate who you're with, talk to me and - yeah, never mind. If you hate who you're with, deal with it. You don't always get to work with your friends when planning a revolution. Pull your desks together, and spend some time getting to know each other if you don't already.

"Last week we talked about the reasons why you personally would rebel against a government. What I'd like you to do today is to stay in the small groups and talk about why you - as a group - would rebel against something. You can look at it seriously or rebel against mandatory cheerleading uniforms for the whole school, but remember, revolutions aren't put together by one person. It's always a group effort. So today, let's start with that."

"Not in the least," Luke said, leaning back into his chair. "Nico, maybe. But not you."

"You'd let Nico tell you what to do?" Percy asked, raising an eyebrow. "I didn't know you had a thing for sons of Hades."

"I don't have a thing for him, no need to get jealous," Luke teased. "He's just not a brat, so I'd be more willing to do what he asked."

"I'm not a brat either," Percy said, making a face. "And I'm not jealous either. Keep dreaming. You're not important enough for me to get jealous about."

You were totally jealous, Percy.

"Oh of course. That's why you didn't act like a complete spaz when we first met," Luke said. He frowned. "Wait a minute..."

Percy rolled his eyes, unable to resist. "That wasn't because I was jealous. I was surprised. Big difference."

There was no jealousy. Just ask him.

"But I am important to you," he said. Luke knew that much, even if he didn't know why. Which was annoying.

That was just unfair, Luke. If he answered, he was going to give way too much away one way or another. So...he didn't answer which was probably answer enough.

Percy opened his mouth a few times to say something, closed it and then changed his mind completely. "You still look rough."

The silence did tell him enough, even if he hated to be in the dark about the whole thing. It really reminded him of his father, which was never a good thing.

At the mention of his injuries, Luke just shrugged like it wasn't a big deal even if his face still hurt like a bitch. "Not all of us can heal in water."

"Yeah, I gathered that," Percy said and tapped his fingers against his desk, wondering how to offer up the next thing without it sounding...weird.

"I can heal other people too," he finally came out with. "Just gotta get near some water."

He shrugged. "I didn't think to offer after the match."

Luke wasn't surprised. If he would have lost he wouldn't have offered to heal Percy if he had the ability. But it seemed like Percy was offering now, or something like it. "You want to heal me?"

"Yep," Percy said simply, glancing over at Luke. "I've done it before. It wouldn't be the first time so it's not like I'll mess it up. I'm pretty good with water."

If that was a slight brag, well, it was a brag. Percy didn't care, it was the truth.

"I wasn't afraid you'd mess up," Luke said. He didn't doubt that Percy was good with his powers, which is why he asked for a fight without them. "I just didn't think you'd want to help me out."

Percy shrugged, trying to seem like it wasn't that big a deal. "Well, I do."

And he didn't know why. It just seemed -- he didn't know. Maybe it'd help solidify the fact that this wasn't the Luke he knew. Maybe he thought this Luke would remember it when the time came for his choice.

"So. Yeah, I do."

Luke found that to be sort of weird, but his jaw did hurt a lot, and he wasn't exactly looking for another scar. "Okay then. Since you're offering and everything."

Re: Lecture [9-8]

[identity profile] seaweed-demigod.livejournal.com 2010-09-08 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
"Okay." It was more than sort of weird but he'd offered and he wasn't going to take it back. He was just going to...think about why he'd offered later.

"Probably best not to do it here," he said, looking around the classroom. "So, there's the beach, the pool and the showers. Preference?"

Re: Lecture [9-8]

[identity profile] trickydemigod.livejournal.com 2010-09-08 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
"Um." Luke wanted to do whatever was the least awkward, so that left the showers out. And he really didn't trust Percy enough to have a whole huge body of water at his disposal around him. "Pool, I guess?"

Re: Lecture [9-8]

[identity profile] seaweed-demigod.livejournal.com 2010-09-08 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Percy wasn't going to say anything but he was kind of glad Luke hadn't picked the showers. That would be...way, way too strange. The pool or the beach were much better.

"Works for me," he said, nodding. "You just wanna meet me there tonight?"

Re: Lecture [9-8]

[identity profile] trickydemigod.livejournal.com 2010-09-08 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Luke nodded. "Sure, that's good with me."

They had such a weird relationship.
