After last week's busy shift in the library, and a particularly active week besides, Jono was very much not in a state of mind to go above and beyond the call for the job, today. He was here, and he was attempting to shelve things when he saw things that needed to be shelved, and now and again he'd pick up a rag and try to dust.

But, well, he never got too far in any one task, because there were some very industrious helping hands hanging around, grabbing books and rags and anything else that he could get into before he could get into very much at all. And then patting him on the shoulder or the head or the ankle, wherever a disembodied hand happened to be able to reach from their particular vantage point, and pointing back toward the desk.

He would have decided that they were being condescending, if not for the fact that he was fairly inclined to just sit and do a whole lot of nothing in particular today anyhow.

There would be much flailing at that point, yes. She would undoubtedly need a hug.

Raven reverently accepted the book and hugged it to her chest. "Thank you," she said. "I will start reading it this evening, I think."

Jono was getting better with the hugging thing, at least. He'd be able to give her that much-needed hug without the wrenching terror that he would accidentally blow her up or something.

It was progress.

//My pleasure, luv. Hopefully, it doesn't disappoint.//

"I am certain it will be wonderful," Raven beamed. "Are the other books shelved in order so that I will know which one is next if you are not working when I finish?"

She'd likely be back next week regardless, and whether she needed hugs or not.

Jono considered that, and then looked at the books on the shelf, and nodded.

//Looks like they are, but you never know if somebody will mis-shelve something between now and then, either. There's a list of th'books in th'back of the one you've got, and those are in order, if you have any doubt.//

Raven did a quick check of the back of the book and nodded. "Yes, I see," she said. "Good. I would not want to read them out of order, or I would become confused, such as the one time I accidentally watched Rumor Gal episodes in the wrong order."

Jono looked somewhat bemused at that, yes.

//Yes,// he noted, //they tend to release them in a certain order for a reason. Otherwise everything just makes no sense at all, and yer left with a bunch of people scratchin' their heads and wonderin' what in th'world is going on.//

//You shouldn't have that problem here, at least.//

"I had downloaded the first season," Raven explained. "And one episode was missing, though I did not realize it at the time. It was very distressing until I realized what was wrong and found the missing episode."

There may have been flailing.

There was a moment's pause there, while Jono took this opportunity to blink. Slowly. 'Downloading' was one of those words that did not make much sense to him, beyond the whole 'getting things off the internet' concept of it all, and while he'd been aware that one could download music, entire seasons of TV shows was sort of like news all on its own.

//Next time, we'll have t'get you th'boxed set, instead,// he settled on. Because that much actually made sense in his brain.

Jonothon and computers did not good friends make. Except for FarmVille. Damn Bobby for that.

Pray that Raven never found Farmville. She'd fret far too much about her pixilated animals receiving the proper care.

"I do have it now, well, the first two seasons," Raven said. "But Hoshi showed me how to find the episodes online before that." But she wouldn't show her how to download episodes from the future, woe.

Jono considered himself fortunate. Being from the mid 1990s meant that all of the new releases that he unloaded every week at the Groovy Tunes were from the future! And he was bringing copies of everything that he could possibly carry back with him to his own reality after graduation next year, too, if he could get away with it.

//And this was... Rumour Gal, you said?// Jono tilted his head a little. //You know, I don't think I've ever actually watched any of that?//

"It is on Monday nights," Raven said helpfully. "The new season will begin the week after next. I have been very anxious for it, as the third season ended with a 'cliffhanger.' My favorite character was in grave peril!"

The flailing had been epic.

Jono actually hadn't been aware that people really used the term 'grave peril' outside of comic books. Really, you learned something new every day!

//Well, if th'character you like is popular enough, I imagine he'll be fine,// Jono offered, because he did, at least, understand the worth of eye candy and television ratings. In the entertainment industry, people only died if there was profit to be had in it, after all. //I might have to watch some... see what all of this fuss is about. It's only fair, really. I mean, I have you reading, and all.//

He was still looking for a horror film to subject the poor girl to, yes.

Anyone who might accuse Raven of being overly dramatic in her patterns of speech...would not be wrong.

"Oh, I am certain he will be back," Raven said. "Hoshi taught me a great deal about computers, including where to find 'spoilers,' which give you an idea of what will be happening on the show. There were many photos of the actor on the set, so I am confident he will return."

She gave Jono a big smile. "You would be most welcome to watch the season premiere with me next Monday," she said. "I will be watching in the common room on the fifth floor." Woe be to anyone who got in her way.

//Next Monday, hm?// And for a brief moment, it actually looked as though Jono possibly had to think that one over. Really. //I'll be there, then, unless something comes up.//

He really couldn't imagine anything coming up, no. All of the worst things that ever happened to him around here tended to rip him apart later in the week, really. So that he could feel like shite over the weekend and get back to pretending to be functional again by Monday.

"I hope you will like it," Raven said happily. "I have found it a fascinating study of human emotions. The characters are ruled by them, and often let feeling rather than rationality make their decisions for them."

Run, Jono. Run.

Nowhere to run, nowhere to hide, and Jono had already gone and committed himself to this. Between the terrible book about lost fairy princesses that Rosalind had him reading, and Rumor Gal, Jono was starting to wonder if he'd ever agree to subject himself to slightly more gender-appropriate recreational media ever again.

//Well, I suppose we'll see what I think about it then, won't we?//

There was no escape.
