Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part III

More tables and chairs had been set up further out on the lawn, where there weren't as many trees. That meant there wasn't as much shade either, so these tables had more fans on them to make up for the difference. Still, it was bound to be quieter over here than closer to the main area.

[Please wait for OCD! The OCD is up! This is the SECOND post for general mingling. Use this post if your browser can't handle the comment load of the first mingling post. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"The size of an orange," Joolushko repeated. "That seems heavy for a hat. Would you wear the whole thing or just the seeds? Or perhaps artificial ones like the grapes?"

This girl was odd. Pleasant, but odd.

"Hmmm. I'm not sure," said Harper, who hadn't given it much though. "I suppose the seeds would make nice dangly earrings. But yeah, they might be too heavy to wear on a hat, unless Hobby Lobby has plastic ones."

"I look forward to seeing the final result," Joolushko said. And she did. Admittedly, mostly to see if it worked and to see if Harper would in fact wear such a large fruit on her head. "Fruit was never something I considered as a clothing accessory."

Of course, it wouldn't really go with all the black leather and such.

"It's kind of different, but I like to avoid blending in with all the stuff that's trendy," said Harper, tilting her head to one side. "You know, I think we took a workshop together at some point according to a Gmail search but I can't seem to remember your name."

"Joolushko Tunai Fenta Hovalis," Joolushko said. She still hadn't quite gotten out of the habit of using her full name. She was working on it. Really. A little bit. "Joolushko is fine," she amended after a moment. "I'm too wrapped up in myself to learn anyone else's name not remembering yours either."

"Wow, that sounds like a mouthful," said Harper, who pondered trying to repeat it the name to make sure she got it. She decided it against that, though, because she was certain she would butcher the poor girl's name. "My name's Harper Finkle. It's kind of different, too."

"It is somewhat longer than most of the names I've come across while I've been here," Joolushko said. "It's hardly unusual on my world though."

"Ooh, you're from another world? That is, like, so cool!" said Harper. "Do you always use your full name like that?"

"I am," Joolushko confirmed though it has no name and I never made one up. "And I do, generally, yes, at home. Here I try to remember that that is not the common way of doing things."

"Yeah, this place can be a little different," said Harper. "I'm from New York City, which seems perfectly normal on the surface. And then I got here and found out that my best friend from kindergarten is a wizard, and so are her brothers."

"This is school is different from any other I have ever attended," Joolushko agreed. "I've never been to New York City. I haven't seen much of this planet besides this island."
