Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part III

More tables and chairs had been set up further out on the lawn, where there weren't as many trees. That meant there wasn't as much shade either, so these tables had more fans on them to make up for the difference. Still, it was bound to be quieter over here than closer to the main area.

Kurt, pink-skinned and smiling, wandered through the crowd nibbling from a plate of snacks, smiling and waving at anyone and everyone.

Friendly and enthusiastic. God help if Bobby met him. "Yeah, I'm new. Hard not to miss new faces around here. Jack McCallister," he introduced himself.

"I'm Kurt!" He grinned. "How are you liking it so far? You haven't been scared off by us yet, so that's a good sign!"

Jack filed the name away. Kurt was hard to miss, so he'd have trouble forgetting anyway. "It's pretty cool. Good view. Not really sure what's going on with some of the kids, but every school has their weirdos."

Kurt waved a cautioning finger at him. "Not like us, they don't! Our weirdos are special!"

"I'll take your word for it." After all, he'd seen the guy walking around dressed like a lion. "Do you count yourself as one of the special few?"

Kurt hesitated a bit. "We're ALL special..." he answered eventually. "What do you think of the people you've met so far?"

Jack shrugged casually. "They seem pretty cool. Friendly enough. I haven't had anyone try to dunk my head in a toilet yet, so it's an improvement on what I expected."

"Is there much toilet-dunking where you come from?" Kurt asked. "We don't really have any bullies at school here."

If there was smiling and waving going on, Bobby was smiling and waving back. "Hi! I'm Bobby McCallister!" he announced, offering his hand.
