It might have been the start of the fall semester, but it was definitely still summer in Fandom. The sun was shining and the temperature was already starting to get high, even as the NPC crew set things up for the day.

Luckily, the school knew how to take care of folks on days like today. Beneath the blue and gold streamers and balloons, tables had been set up with cold drinks and food, and an entire section devoted to offering up different ~~moddable~~ ice cream flavors. As always, there was a stack of nametags set down next two signs: one listing the Big Sibling/Little Sibling pairings, and one listing rooms and roommates for the new students.

With everything set up and the crew out of the way, it was time for the picnic to begin!

Jack extended his hand and shook hers. "It's no problem. I don't know what the sibling program is supposed to do, but if it's anything like the name, I'm guessing you tell me what to do and make sure I don't get eaten by sharks?"

"Don't try to fight any evil megalomaniacs all by yourself," Triela suggested, only half-joking. "But basically, yeah. I'm here to answer any questions you might have. Show you around. Hold your hand through a bit of the culture shock."

She flashed a quick grin. "Day or night, rain or shine, all those other things that mean I'm around pretty much any time." Unless she was on a mission.

Jack smiled. "Good to know. I won't be any trouble. It's a smaller school than my old one, so finding my way around should be easy. Anyone or anything I should look out for?"

Triela raised an eyebrow slightly. "Depending on your last school, there's a lot you should probably watch out for. But depending on your last school, warning you about some of them would only make you think I'm crazy."

"Tell me I didn't walk into a correctional facility for troubled teens and I'll be happy to work out the rest."

"You didn't walk into a correctional facility for troubled teens," Triela deadpanned. It was one of the few types of humor she was actually any good at.

"That's a relief. What can you tell me about the town? Anywhere good to eat?"

"Most of the food is pretty good, actually." Triela smiled. "Cafe Fina, especially."

"I'll have to try it out. Thanks. I don't really have any other questions yet, but I just got here, so that might change."

"I suspect you will," Triela smiled. "And if you do..." she reached into her jacket, pulling it open enough for the empty shoulder holster she was wearing to be visible, and pulled out a business card. It just had a phone number on it.

"That's my cell."

Jack noticed the holster and while he didn't say anything, he wasn't great at hiding his concern. He took the business card. "Thanks. I don't have a number yet, but I'm in 308."

"I'm in 528 if you ever need to just swing by." Triela smiled slightly. She wasn't especially excited about moving rooms, but her new roommate was at least someone she got along with.

"I'll keep that in mind. Thanks for looking out for me."

"No problem." Triela smiled again. "And welcome to Fandom."
