BWI Airport | Portalocity Lounge | Saturday Morning | August 28

In most instances, no one would bat an eye at seeing a boy and his dog. In this instance, some people might actually run away screaming at the sight of this boy and this dog. Percy Jackson didn’t look all that intimidating on his own. He was average height, dark haired and carried a ball point pen in the pocket of his jeans.

Of course, the huge hellhound sitting behind Percy might have turned a few heads if not for the Mist. Thankfully, most mortals didn’t see Mrs. O’ Leary, Percy’s inherited hellhound sitting lazily in the BWI airport lounge (how the hellhound had fit, Percy didn’t know).

Percy himself didn’t look as relaxed as his dog. His eyes were jumping left to right, almost as if he expected something to attack him or for Luke to emerge from the crowd with that more smirk than smile look on his face.

This was about the fourteenth school Percy had been to since age twelve. He didn’t expect it to last. He wanted to be at Camp Half Blood. Instead, he was waiting in an airport lounge for a shuttle to cart him and his hellhound to a place called Fandom.

Percy frowned. He didn’t think this day could get worse.

[Open shuttle bus! Mrs. O’ Leary is a big ole hellhound that most mortals probably would not see because of something called the Mist. If you’re not exactly all the way mortal, you’d see her though. She’s not going to attack anyone, I promise.]

Well, that had been an interesting trip...but although no, not really. Zatanna was already bored, the books she had brought stashed so they could save her from boredom later, the place new and somewhat not as impressive as she had been led to believe. And there people, some older, some younger. Some green. She stared for a bit, but her attention went to the rest of the people, and then back to being bored.

Taking out a deck of cards, she decided to kill some time with a couple of tricks on the other newbies. At least nobody would be betting any money. Probably.

"So, who wants to pick a card?" An inquisitive look to the boy with the huge black dog, as he looked somewhat gullible. No offense, really, but when you wanted to become the next best stage magician you had to know who to pick.

"For a magic trick, silly. And your puppy can't eat my cards." Oh, she did saw the face of that dog, and didn't want it any closer.

Zatanna shuffled the cards playfully, the deck dancing in her hands; she wasn't even paying attention to it. "Okay, not silly. Got a name then?" The other statement made her frown a little.

"Only fools cause troubles with magic. And I'm not about to use real magic, am I? It's just a hand's game. Come on, be brave."

"Then what's the problem, boy?" His fault for not sharing a name, of course.

She was just going to keep insisting until he took a more direct action. "Come on, it's just a little simple card. You might even get a nice surprise if you play along."

"Boy, aren't you battle ready? Look, I'm Zatanna; see, no need to make so much trouble about names." Last thing she wanted was a pissed boy glaring at her.

"That's the point of the trick; you have to find out. So...a card?", asked as she offered the deck again.

Kon didn't notice the girl when she first came in, but looked up at the sound of her voice.

Okay, maybe this place wasn't going to be so bad after all. The women were fine. Plus he was bored.

"Hey babe, why don't you show me what you can do?"

Zatanna smiled at him, offering the deck to Kon; apparently she had totally ignored the babe part. "Well, pick a card, give it a good look, and put it back."

Kon grinned and did as she said, taking the red Queen of Hearts from the deck and putting it back.

"Do I get a reward if I manage to win?"
