BWI Airport | Portalocity Lounge | Saturday Morning | August 28

In most instances, no one would bat an eye at seeing a boy and his dog. In this instance, some people might actually run away screaming at the sight of this boy and this dog. Percy Jackson didn’t look all that intimidating on his own. He was average height, dark haired and carried a ball point pen in the pocket of his jeans.

Of course, the huge hellhound sitting behind Percy might have turned a few heads if not for the Mist. Thankfully, most mortals didn’t see Mrs. O’ Leary, Percy’s inherited hellhound sitting lazily in the BWI airport lounge (how the hellhound had fit, Percy didn’t know).

Percy himself didn’t look as relaxed as his dog. His eyes were jumping left to right, almost as if he expected something to attack him or for Luke to emerge from the crowd with that more smirk than smile look on his face.

This was about the fourteenth school Percy had been to since age twelve. He didn’t expect it to last. He wanted to be at Camp Half Blood. Instead, he was waiting in an airport lounge for a shuttle to cart him and his hellhound to a place called Fandom.

Percy frowned. He didn’t think this day could get worse.

[Open shuttle bus! Mrs. O’ Leary is a big ole hellhound that most mortals probably would not see because of something called the Mist. If you’re not exactly all the way mortal, you’d see her though. She’s not going to attack anyone, I promise.]

Kon had landed a little ways off and walked the rest of the way, scowling a bit and dragging his feet the whole way. He still wasn't sure why he had to go to school. Or why he couldn't just fly there himself, it would be so much faster.

But no, Cadmus wanted him to socialize and learn to blend in better or whatever. Whatever, Kon was social!

Hopefully the girls were hot.

He spotted a group of people up ahead and shrugged as he headed towards them.

"This is place for that Fandom High thing?"

Kon didn't really mind standing out in the open, he liked the attention. Plus if for whatever reason someone felt like attacking at least it would be something interesting to do.

"Crazy party here, I can tell. Well since the shuttle is so slow, I'm Kon."

He actually had to think about that for a moment.

"If we're talking about Earth, yes, more or less. I've been hanging out in mainly Metropolis and Hawaii though. How about you, Percy, was it?"

"If it's not, then we're all in the wrong place," Elphaba replied, still off in her corner with her suitcase at her feet.

That was more like it, a girl. And not entirely horrible looking either. The green skin was pretty cool.

"That wouldn't be a completely horrible thing. Who forced you guys here?"

"I don't know about the rest of them," Elphaba said, gesturing at the gathered crowd. "But it was my father's decision to send me here. And when your father is the governor, you tend to need to listen when he tells you to do something."

Kon nodded in understanding. He didn't exactly have parents, but Cadmus was always trying to tell him what to do.

"That must suck, having your dad tell you what to do all the time."

"Well, I won't have to worry about it when I'm here," Elphaba said. "He'll be back in Munchkinland while I'm on the fabulous frontier of Fandom."

"Indeed it is," William offered the other boy a slight smile.

Well Cadmus wanted him to socialize, he could do that.

"I'm Kon. Are you new here too?"

"Kon," William echoed. "Short for Connor?" he hazarded, since 'Kon' by itself wasn't a name he was familiar with.

He shook his head in response. "Nope, just Kon. Kon-El if you want the whole name, but the El is a family name."

Even though he wasn't exactly part of the family, but oh well.

"I see," William filed that bit of information away. "William Murdoch. Do you know how they get the lights to do that?" By 'that' he mostly meant 'shine', since electric lighting in 1878 wasn't nearly as powerful.

"Seems like it," George said. This was practically an excited welcome, from her. "Dunno what we're waiting for."

If it was another plane, she was going to be pissed.

This newcomer was hot. Kon moved in closer, a charming grin on his face.

"I don't know about the rest, but I've been waiting for you all my life."

You know what was especially hot? This face George was making, right here.

"Oh, I think I just threw up in my mouth a little."

You know what Kon was terrible at? Giving up.

"It's okay, it's easy to be overwhelmed by how amazing I am. I'll give you a moment to bask."

She was going to puke right on his shoes. If he was wearing shoes. She was trying to avert her eyes so as not to see.

"Stop talking," she said. "Just ... stop moving your lips entirely."

Well, at least one of the teachers was, at any rate.

"Another star pupil already in the making," Cindy said lightly. "It's good to be back."

An older woman, nice. He moved over, grinning and running a hand through his hair.

"You know it. Want to give me some private lessons?"

He threw in an eyebrow waggle for added effect.

Cindy was amused, at least.

"Run along and play with your school chums," she said. "One of them might still be young enough to find your pick up lines impressive."

Hard to get, he liked that.

"Why settle for them when there's a real woman in front of me?" He paused to puff this chest out slightly. "And trust me, there's a lot about me that's impressive."
