Infiltration and Advanced Sneakiness [Tuesday, August 10]

Today the Danger Shop was set up like Anakin's normal classroom instead of any sort of interactive scenario.

"I hope you've all managed to catch up on sleep since the weekend," he said, sweeping into the room and taking a seat. "Today we're going to talk a little bit--and only in general terms, so don't feel compelled to share anything you don't want to talk about--about anything you learned in this class that may have helped you over the last week, or any tips you picked up about moving silently or not being noticed."

He looked a little uncomfortable as he added, "And if you'd like to talk in more specifics after the class with an adult, I'm available for that as well."

Anakin was bad with emotions.

"Not even a little bit," she answered. "But like, they snuck up on me, so I think the time for sneaky had passed?"

Considering Ino hadn't actually spoken a word out loud since she'd gotten back... Ino was... not planning on answering the question unless confronted about it.

She doodled in her notebooks instead. She'd speak when she was good and ready, until then people would just have to deal with her choosing an alternate method.

Anakin was not about to push anyone to chat, so he walked past Ino's desk without pressing.

Anakin nodded. "Was it mostly adrenaline-fueled, or do you run for exercise normally?"

"Speed and patience." And a good sword arm. "Wait for the opening. Take it. Hide until the next opportunity." To use the sword arm and have others as backup. "Don't make noise. Watch your lights."

Cassidy was quiet as she listened to the other students talk. She was still not sure what to make of the events that had happened here. Finally, she added her own comments to the discussion.

"I learned that no matter what's going on or where you are, shielding is a very good thing to do." She frowned, looking down at her hands. "And that Queen's Magic can't heal everything that lives or make it right."

She might look a little dejected at that bit of knowledge. It could also be from realizing that her Tiger-Eye jewel hadn't been strong enough to heal the machine... or whatever it was beneath the island.

"The second part isn't exactly relevant to a class on infiltration," Anakin said with a smile, "but shielding helps, either magical or physical versions."

Alice had been lucky enough to not get caught up in it all, but that didn't mean she didn't worry about her friends. And since one of them was sitting right next to her...

She touched Cassidy's hands lightly with one of her own. "It's going to be okay," she said softly.

"I've learned that most Earth drugstores aren't likely to carry lightsaber-worthy components," Tahiri said dryly. "And how to use my, um, lack of size to get caught up in a crowd as if I hadn't meant to sneak in where they're going."

"I've been meaning to write a letter to someone about the first thing," Anakin agreed, "and small sizes are especially good for sneaking. That's why Obi-Wan was bait so often."

"I got to practice trying to blend into a crowd when the black holes that were here showed up where we were," Jason said. "The locals didn't like that very much."

"You never know what skills are going to come in handy," Anemone replied. "I'm a soldier, but it was my habit of constantly sketching things that let me make detailed drawings of the machine, and bring them back to the library to compare with blueprints."
