Infiltration and Advanced Sneakiness [Tuesday, August 10]

Today the Danger Shop was set up like Anakin's normal classroom instead of any sort of interactive scenario.

"I hope you've all managed to catch up on sleep since the weekend," he said, sweeping into the room and taking a seat. "Today we're going to talk a little bit--and only in general terms, so don't feel compelled to share anything you don't want to talk about--about anything you learned in this class that may have helped you over the last week, or any tips you picked up about moving silently or not being noticed."

He looked a little uncomfortable as he added, "And if you'd like to talk in more specifics after the class with an adult, I'm available for that as well."

Anakin was bad with emotions.

"I've been meaning to write a letter to someone about the first thing," Anakin agreed, "and small sizes are especially good for sneaking. That's why Obi-Wan was bait so often."

Yeah, Tahiri doubted that, somehow.

Not being stupid enough to actually say so, though, she just raised an eyebrow and smiled tiredly. "How were you planning to sell that idea to the people at CVS?"

"As really souped-up flashlights for emergencies," Anakin said, nodding.

Tahiri blinked a few times, trying to imagine how well that would go over. "I suppose eventually the novelty of those compact LED flashlights will wear off, and they'll need something fancier to market."

"Exactly," Anakin said, looking pleased with himself. "This is a much better plan than the cartoon Deadpool and I were going to write."

"You were going to write a cartoon?" Tahiri wanted to laugh, outright, but it was Master Skywalker and he was still intimidating. And this conversation was entirely absurd, but preferable to talking more about that hideously creepy church. Or any of the rest of it.

It was kind of part of his plan, as much as anything Anakin did ever resembled a plan. "Yes," Anakin said with a smile. "Deadpool was getting stuck with the annoying sidekick."

"Of course," Tahiri echoed, smiling slightly. "It sounds like it could have been a hit."

But then again, her pop culture frame of reference was pretty stunted.

". . . and possibly good for morale. Force knows we could have used a laugh where we were."
