Library, Tuesday!

Rinoa had heard plenty about this Dusk series, but she had to admit she wasn't all that impressed. The girl at the center just seemed whiny. And the guy's protectiveness was kind of cute, but watching her sleep? Right on the 'creepy' line.

So much for Dusk. At least working in a library meant there were a lot of options for a replacement.

Rinoa nodded intently. "Motivation helps," she said. "It's really easy to get discouraged, otherwise. But it's all okay now, isn't it?"

Henry's jaw moved, showing his stress. "In the very long term I think it will be," he said. "We're having some problems right now. Long distances are hard on any couple, so we're ... taking some time."

"I'm sorry," she said, biting her lip quickly. She shouldn't have asked; it was overstepping her bounds. "I know ... this doesn't mean much, but I know another couple ... they had to be apart for a long time, but they never stopped loving one another. He's with her now."

He'd been her anchor, even while they were physically separated. It was inspiring.

He wouldn't have brought it up if he really minded talking about it. Henry smiled a bit to show he wasn't offended. "Well, I signed on for a year here, and then I'll see," he said. "I know I'm going back to Chicago sooner or later, either way."

In part because he knew things that he'd live through in a few years, and they were all in Chicago.

"That's a sweet story about your friends," he added. "Maybe I'll make things work with Clare, who knows?"
