Self Defense and Kickassery for Dummies; Thursday Fourth Period [2nd. Class]

One by one the students would be dropping by on their nicely simulated dojo, only to find Faith already there, stretching. Well, at least it was better than to be greeted by a completely uninterested glance. This time as well she kept it quiet until the time for her class actually started as well; students would notice she was going through the simple kata they had been doing the last class. Being as unresourceful as she was with words, she wasn't about to misuse the few ones she had prepared beforehand; she had prepared her speeches before every class, obviously -even if she had really gotten some unfinished rantings and vague concepts written down before giving up on the idea-. Still, each student would get a small nod as a greeting, and then ordered to sit quietly on the tatami -no chairs this time, but the padded floor was pretty comfortable-, or to stretch as well; as long as they remained silent, it was fine for her.

Once the time for the class to start actually arrived, she got the group sitting in the tatami, and cleared her throat.

"And now it's time for class number two; I expect you have been training all this time."

She didn't, actually, but it was fun to make them feel guilty.

"Last time we got into the basics, and saw our first kata; was it hard? Simple? You think you can take something stronger? At least for those without experience, the approach was probably a pain in the ass." Faith smirked. "That was the idea, but for I got to see you all are more or less familiar with martial arts, which is a still kind counts no matter how little real time experience you have ever had." Oh Faith, you were such a bad, bad person. "Anyway, this second class was thought to be focused entirely on learning a new kata, but come on, you didn't sign into this class to do the same stuff all the time. So, while we will be seeing another kata indeed, and I promise this one will be more of a challenge, perhaps, I'll also test your overall fighting skills; one by one I'll be having a one-on-one with you." Malicious smiles ensued here as Faith walked around the group. "This won't be a real fight, and I'll be letting you land some attacks on me, actually, but this will serve for me to be able to point your weak spots, so you can keep them in mind if you ever need to defend yourselves. The TA is not exempt of this little excercise." Why hello, Wes, Faith was smiling at you.

[OCD, wait for it is up!]

Wesley did not exactly want to fight a Slayer. Unlike most people, he knew exacly what Slayers could do in a fight and knew that he would very likely lose limbs. He was proud and all that, but he was also smart and very fond of being in one piece. Also, he just liked disagreeing with Faith. So he crossed his arms over his chest and announced, "I am not going to fight you."

Wesley stumbled back from the kick and tried to grab something to steady himself. He couldn't grab hold of anything, though, so he settled for leaning foeward and trying to catch his breath. Yeah, he had fighting skills, but he was rusty, and she was a freaking Slayer. He tried to retaliate with a sloppy punch, but gasping for air kind of threw off his aim.

Affronted, Wes protested as he got to his feet, "My technique is not horrible. It's simply that you're a Slayer and I've no proper - " He rushed at her and tried to execute a complicated kick that actually sent him flying back onto the mats - " - defense," he finished weakly.

"By all means," Wesley replied, his voice hard. "Teach what you feel you need to teach."

Bitter? Yep. Mad? Hell yes. Willing to lose an argument by stating something emphatically and having it shut down? No.

Wesley mimicked the position. In theory it was something with which he was quite familiar. Most martial arts were familiar to him in theory - theory being the operative word. In practice? Well, he could use some training.

Making it clear on his face and in his body language how little respect he had for this exercise, Wes did as he was told, and approached Faith slowly in the proper form before launching out with a series of ill-timed punches.

Kicking back at her, Wesley spluttered, "I'm simply doing what you asked of me! How can this possibly be childish?"

Yeah, he was pissed. Pissed that he was being forced to fight someone he knew he couldn't possibly beat, while being reminded of the fact that he was pretty incompetent for not being good enough to beat her.

A bit wary of this change of tactics, Wesley narrowed his eyebrows in disbelief as he came forward and rained down a line of punches without changing his footwork. The angle of each punch was relatively consistent, and he was close enough to her to be easily thrown off.
