Library [7-14]

Dan had some trouble with the whole productivity thing today, and was spending his shift hitting the random button on Wikipedia and reading about stupid crap. He just didn't have the energy to do anything useful.

Even though the last pursuit had not ended very successfully, Alexander was determine and convinced now more than ever that, somewhere in these bookshelves, there had to be at least something to lead him to the land of the Green Isles.

He knew where he wanted to start, but, upon seeing the familiar face of the librarian, he detoured a moment to offer a greeting.

"Hello, Blackagar," he whispered in his library voice. "How very good to see you again. How fares yourself and the library?"

...

There was a bit of a pause for Alexander to register that. "Truly?" he asked. "My apologies! You look rather like him. And to be working in the same places, as well."

Another pause.

"You get that often, don't you?" Call it a hunch.

"I wonder why that is?" Alexander mused. "Perhaps it's simply that most people meet him first. That's how it was with me. Sheer timing, working more in his benefit."

Alexander remembered having radio explained to him at some point, but he'd mostly forgotten about it since then, and still wasn't entirely certain about it. "No," he said with a bit of caution because he didn't know what he was talking about, "I don't suppose it does. Although I imagine your being able to talk separates you from him at least a little further....Are you related to him at all? The resemblance truly is uncanny."

"There's a person going around looking like you and you haven't bothered to meet him yet?" Alexander seemed truly surprised. "Whyever not?"

His head tilted, slightly. "I suppose it could be a little awkward, especially if you didn't quite get along..."

"You could get coffee together!" Alexander offered. "You'd have plenty to talk about, sharing both looks and a job at the library. I'm sure there'd be plenty of other similarities to discuss as well."

Henry'd had another dream about his mother the night before. It was longer this time, and more intense. If you dream me, she'd said, I will come.

He had one of her opera recordings playing in the background today. He didn't feel like he could listen to anything else.
