New day. Same Dan Humphrey geeking up the place. Today's geek activity of choice was making sure that none of the books checked out were overdue. If there were overdue books, oh, you best believe he'd passive aggressively let you know about it with a polite note.

"How's your summer going?"

Aimless Henry wanted to make small talk with the staff.

"Um, good, I guess," Dan said. "It's too hot to do anything worthwhile outdoors so I've been kind of lazy."

"I know," Henry agreed. "I run, and if I'm not out by six I kind of want to die from heat exhaustion."

"At least you're doing that," Dan said, laughing a little. "I can't even make it to the coffee shop without stopping to take a break."

"It's a hobby," Henry said lightly. "Keeps me on the street and away from the books. Besides, exercise is good for you."

"Why would you want to be away from books?" the ultra-nerd asked.

Henry laughed. "A good question," he said. "Because if I didn't need to run and occasionally feed myself and sleep, I might never leave a library."

"Ah, I see," Dan said, chuckling. "I don't necessarily see a problem with that, but my dad keeps trying to convince me that there is such thing as too much library time."

"It took me a long time to get to a point where I'd agree with your dad on that one," Henry said amiably. "Your dad's not much of a reader?"

"Oh, he reads," Dan said. "It's just he's more into music. Had a band and everything way back when."

"Yeah?" Henry looked more interested. "Mine was in the Chicago symphony. Probably a little different."

"Definitely different," Dan said. "My dad's band was rock. They had a one hit wonder in the 90's. It's the family's claim to fame."

"Really?" Henry leaned forward. "Any chance I'd know the song?"

He'd pretty much given up on mainstream radio by the '90s, but Clare listened to stuff. It was possible.

"I think Lincoln Hawk's biggest hit was called Sandalwood," Dan said. "My dad also says Every Time got some play but I'm not sure if I believe him."

"Can't prove either one by me," Henry answered. "Either I missed them entirely, or it's a different universe thing."

Wesley loved libraries, and the fact that it had taken him four entire days to visit the one at Fandom was a mark of how disoriented he'd been for his first week. No, he hadn't had any classes yet, so he had nothing to study, but he'd been intending to study up on interdimensional hotspots, to get an idea of what kind of place Fandom was.

Seeing someone else already there as he settled down with a relevant book, he said, "Oh, hello." Somehow he hadn't anticipated seeing anyone else there.

"Hey," Dan said, a little surprised to see someone in there himself. The library was usually pretty empty. "You finding everything okay?"

"So far, it would appear so," Wes replied. "The collection here seems quite thorough, compared to the books offered at the last American high school I visited. Are you the library staff?"

"Some of it, yeah," Dan said, nodding. "There's one of us in here every day. The librarian, Mr. DeTamble, is usually in his office in the back. Plenty of help around if you ever need it."

Wesley nodded. "Thank you," he said. "I'm Wesley Wyndam-Pryce. It's possible I'll run into you from time to time - I tend to visit libraries with some regularity."

"Dan Humphrey," he said, giving the guy a nod. "I tend to hang around here a lot, myself. A lot of people do in this town, actually. We're big on reading."

If Wesley looked relieved at that, that was because he'd come into contact with quite a few people who'd seemed like the sorts of people to avoid reading like the plague. "Nice to meet you," he said politely.

"Nice to meet you too," Dan said. "You liking Fandom so far?"

"It's quite different from what I'm used to, but I'm adjusting," Wes non-answered.

Once he pings in.

Henry felt lonely and a little aimless today. He was consoling himself with repairs to some of the rarer and more damaged books in the collection.
