Infiltration and Advanced Sneakiness, Class #1, Period 1, July 7th

The Danger Shop was set to a walled cityscape at nighttime when the students arrived for class. The two teaching assistants stood at the ready position in front of the city gate, each in their official uniforms.

"Good morning," Elena said. "My name is Elena, and this is Anemone. We're not your teacher. We're his teaching assistants. This is Infiltration and Advanced Sneakiness. This class will be all about teaching you how to hide in the shadows, slip past the guards, and get where you're going without attracting attention. Especially if 'where you're going' is exactly where other people don't want you to be."

"As much FUN as causing a ruckus can be, it's not always the best way to achieve your objective." Smiling that was probably not reassuring, Anemone. "So today we're going to start with the basics. Hide-and-Seek and laser tag."

"With a few interesting twists," Elena said. She held up her weapon. "We have guns. You don't, at least, not yet. There are crates scattered around some of the central intersections -- some have guns in them, but some don't. Is it worth going after one? You decide."

"You can either hide all period, which counts as a win, or find a gun and take out others, also a win, but try not to get sniped yourself or you lose," Anemone cheerfully chirped. "This is a class about sneakiness, not killing stuff, and hiding well enough to survive counts. If you're really good, you'll find Professor Skywalker at the end of this class, which counts as the Ultimate Win if you manage to get the drop on him and tag him out," Anemone said. "But if you're that good, you probably wouldn't be here, and he cheats anyway --" which was part of why he was awesome. "-- so you aren't going to win that way."

"It's less of a win if you get either of us," Elena grinned, cocking her weapon, "but that Lesser But Still Impressive Win will earn you cupcakes next week. In five minutes, all the guns will power themselves on, so you'd better not still be standing here. Good luck. You're going to need it."

You might want to take off and get away from the TA ladies. They're both really good shots.

Using an urban landscape to dodge and weave your way away from something chasing you was a Reese speciality. As soon as the word 'it' came out of Elena's mouth, Kyle turned and broke into a run. Once he was amongst buildings, he didn't maintain a straight path and got himself a decent distance away from the main gates before the five minutes was up.

Gunn wasted no time heading for cover and then moving quickly from hiding place to at least some decent cover, all the while looking for one of the laser tag guns.

Well, this class could definitely prove useful, Madison decided as she slipped off into the city and started looking for a place to hide.

Ino darted off the moment they were told to on silent feet and, once she'd gone far enough into the city, went about confusing her trail while putting distance between her and the gate.

Distance and height.

James scanned the area, looking at possible hiding places. This was no different than Krondor: find a hideyhole, stay quiet until the Watch passed.

He found a spot and hunkered down into a comfortable position, patiently waiting for the time to end.

And Cloud was gone. Off to high ground, were he could scope better. Mobility had never been an issue, and when he was sure he was relatively safe he got to abuse of those fancy gifts he had.

Was it cheating if she used her Force senses to keep track of where Anemone and Elena were? Well, it was what Master Skywalker would do, Tahiri told herself, and since it was his class, she decided it wasn't. (Or it was, but that was acceptable.) The Yuuzhan Vong warrior part of her mentality balked at the idea of sneakiness -- it wasn't honorable -- but she countered it with the reminder that it was, sometimes, the more practical and efficient way to get things done.

After taking a moment to orient herself and get a sense of where they were, Tahiri picked a different direction and took off into the city, using the Force to augment her speed but drawing on her innate Yuuzhan Vong understanding of deception to mask as much of her path as possible. (That was a bit of a challenge; the urban landscape was closer to Coruscant the way it had been before the Vongforming, which led to some fun cross-referencing of both sets of memories. But it was nice to know she was getting better at that.) She wasn't quite as far away from the gates as she'd have preferred by the time the five minutes was up, but it was a good distance nonetheless.

When it became clear what the objective of the class was, Parker started fading back behind her other classmates until she got to a position where she could slip away with the others covering her. Then she went looking for the high ground.

Kitty figured she might rule at this class. She took off to find a good hiding place, and once she was there, all she had to do was phase through whatever it was and not get hit. She didn't remember hearing anything about her cheating...

Katniss immediately bolted down a dark alleyway, taking as many turns as she could to confuse any trackers. Years of hunting had given her a light step, so her boots made nearly no sound on the pavement -- she was used to compensating for dead foliage, after all.

And that? Would be Alice darting off in a blur, looking for one of the crates.
