Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part III

More tables and chairs had been set up further out on the lawn, where there weren't as many trees, and so there wasn't as much shade either. Still, it was bound to be quieter over here than closer to the main area.

[OCD is up! Have at it! This is the SECOND post for general mingling. Use this post if your browser can't handle the comment load of the first mingling post. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Not wanting to come across as the kind of rude person who'd speak disrespectfully about a roommate he'd just met, but suspecting that Alex was probably the kind of person who wouldn't care either way, Wes just said, "She asks questions that are rather alarming. I believe one of her particular concerns was whether or not I am a vending machine."

Alex laughed because, really, that was kind of a funny question. And Alex was almost certain that the question had a reason.

"What'd you say to that?" Alex had to ask. "You didn't like blabber incoherently, did you?"

"I'm afraid I did," he admitted. "But I eventually told her I'm not. Unless she meant a metaphorical vending machine, in which case I'm not sure what that would mean."

"Yeah, I'm not sure either," Alex said, shaking his head. "She stop asking weird questions after you told her you weren't a vending machine? Or was that just the first in a line of weird questions that had you near wetting your pants?"

"She asked a number of other questions," Wesley said awkwardly. He knew he was being mocked, but he wasn't sure if Alex wanted him to just go with it as some kind of hazing thing or to protest it and act like a man. Option A seemed like it would require vastly less energy, so he settled on that.
