Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

The recent cold front had been a welcome weather pattern as far as Zoe was concerned, and she was very grateful for how things had turned out today - it was sunny and breezy, and just cool enough that no one would pass out from heat exhaustion. Hopefully.

Beneath the blue and gold streamers and balloons, tables had been set up with drinks and food, including an entire table of ~~moddable~~ different ice cream flavors. As always, there was a stack of nametags set down next two signs: one listing the Big Sibling/Little Sibling pairings, and one listing rooms and roommates for the new students.

[OCD is up! Have at it! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here and here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Yes, this was certainly unexpected.

"You are my Big Sibling?" A moment of careful consideration. "You don't look too big to me." And not old. Or experienced. And yet this was Tim. "But I guess it's for a reason." There had to be a reason, that was going to become his motto on Fandom.

"Thanks for the welcome, anyway."

"Well, no, I'm just someone who's been here a little while," Tim said. "I can show you where things are, answer questions, that kind of thing. Where are you from?"

Nibelheim, or Midgar, or Edge...in Gaia. Nothing makes sense here.

"...The city is called Edge. I don't think it's on this...world." Way to make someone feel the distance from home. "You? I don't suppose I'll know the place anyway, but..." Well, it would be a name to remember.

"Gotham City, in New Jersey," Tim said. "Don't worry about it. There's people here from a world like mine that haven't heard of my home. Everyone's from different places."

Yeah, what he expected. "I did know more than one can come." That was probably one of the reasons why Tifa hadn't made a big deal out of it, he guessed. "Everyone?" That seemed a little extreme to his tastes. "Surely...some people could have come together."

"Sure, some people are from the same place," Tim said. "But the island's a multiverse nexus. Weird is normal, here."

"Multiverse nexus...that is a word to remember." Mostly beacuse he would have never imagined it himself. "Should I be wary about something...in particular?"

"Allegedly there are small green creatures around called gremlins. Their bite has hallucinogenic properties," Tim said. "Probably want to steer clear of those."

Oh, perfect. "I'll keep my guard on, then. Is there an issue regarding...hurting them in self defense?" Saying 'kill the little bastards on sight' might have been a little extreme.

Tim frowned. "You can defend yourself. I don't think anything excessive is called for. Their venom causes embarrassment, but there's no lasting damage."

While he was not eager to retort into violence for something like that, Cloud was pretty fearful of shame. Cool warriors didn't get bites from little gremlins after all. "I won't cause anything extreme then, but I'm not gettng a bite if there is something I can do."

"No one expects you to stand there and take it," Tim assured him. "This place tends to have a lot of weird stuff happening, by the way. There's people not just from different places, but different times. You might meet people you know back home, but they'll be younger or older than you'd expect."

That last bit made Cloud look slightly distressed. "There is some people I would rather not find here." Namely Aerith, but Zack was also on his list. Of course, dead people weren't supposed to come back here or anything, right? Right?

"These are going to be two long, long years."

"Well, maybe you'll get lucky," Tim said. "You have any other questions? Anything I can help you with?"

"No, it's okay. Thanks for bearing with me." He didn't want to push any further, and really, what he didn't know, he would eventually find out about. He was just that lucky.

"It's what I'm here for," Tim pointed out. "I'm in 507, if you come up with questions later."
