Dogma: Fuck It! | Wednesday | Period 1

It was the official last day of class. Loki would have been sad if he hadn't known he was going to end up teaching again. Power was fucking intoxicating.

"Last day of class," he said, smiling at all the students. "I bet you couldn't wait. You all made it through without annoying the fuck out of me or dying. Congratulations. I don't have any sort of final prepared because fuck that noise. I hope you've learned something in this class. If you take anything away, I hope it's that rules are made to be fucking broken sometimes and just because there's guidelines written down doesn't mean they need to be followed. Be your own fucking person."

With that, he sat at the desk and put his feet up. "I'm sticking around the for the class but if you wanna leave, you can fucking go. If you don't, well, don't."

Maybe this was a sort of final. To see who would actively go against him and his word and who wouldn't. He wasn't grading it but he could see if he could predict who would stay and who would go.

"So, make your choice and get to it."

He's sprawled at his desk, relaxing.

Sookie hadn't really wanted to stay, but she did need to talk to Loki. So, she stuck out the whole class period, and waited until the others left before tentatively wandering up. "I wanted to say I'm sorry for missing last week," she said carefully.

"You missed people running through traffic," he said, looking over at her. "Pity for you! No one died, though."

Sookie clenched her jaw a little, because maybe no one had died here, but he hadn't meant that so she was just going to move past. "I'd offer to make it up but it's not like we have cars here," she replied instead.

"It was a Danger Shop sim anyway," he said, waving a hand. "Don't worry about it, though. Nothing to make up, nothing to really miss. Lucky you."

"Okay, good," she said, sighing a little and fidgeting with her hands. "Um. I kind of wanted to ask you something. Like, an angel question."

"An angel question?" he repeated, giving her a look. "Please don't ask me to see my wings. I'm comfortable and that'd require getting up."

"I've seen Warren's," she said, waving a hand. "No, um. I -- what happens to people after they die? Is Heaven real?"

This had been on her mind for a couple days, yes. As much as her faith dictated where Gran had gone, hearing it from someone who'd know for sure would be comforting.

"What?" Honestly, he hadn't expected that sort of question. "Where the fuck do you think angels come from? Toledo? Heaven's real, yeah. Home of angels, God, apostles, prophets, and all those good people that live their lives like shining symbols of goodness."

"I just wanted to make sure," she said quietly. "Hell's real too, then?"

"Hell's real," he confirmed. "I've never met Lucifer in the flesh but I've met a few of his friends. Azrael's not much a bad guy. His horns look like little tits but he's better than some demons I've come across."

That actually got a little laugh out of her. "And good people go to Heaven? It's all true? You promise?"

"What the hell satisfaction would I get out of lying to you?" Loki asked, shaking his head. "Didn't you learn this shit in church?"

"Yeah, but I learned a lot of things in church that I don't necessarily think sound like how God actually is. Like how swearing's wrong," she replied, arching a brow at him.

"Whatever you learned about God is probably fucking wrong," Loki declared with a nod. "Do you think I'd still be a fucking angel if swearing was such a no no?"

"My point exactly. I'm Southern Baptist," she pointed out. "I figure most of what the church says is wrong. And it's in my interests to find out about Heaven and Hell, so I figured you'd know."

"Heaven's a good place but it's not like people lounging on clouds, getting the opportunity to rub elbows with Mother Theresa and shit," he told her, shaking his head. "It's comfort and peace and safety. It's no pain and feeling loved and that kind of shit. It doesn't matter where it is, it matters what it is."

"Good. That's what it should be," she decided with a little nod. "Do they get to watch us down here?"

"Up to them," Loki told her, shrugging. "Some do, some don't. It's not like they're up there, watching the human race like a fucking World Cup match. If they wanna look in, they can. They stay in Heaven, though. The ones that come down, they're more than just regular dead people."

"But they can watch if they want," Sookie noted, feeling a little comforted by that. "Okay. I'm not expecting anyone to visit. I just want to know that they're doing okay up there."

"They can watch," he said, nodding, "but if you ever think you see someone who's died, it's probably in your head. I'm technically dead but I'm an angel. If they're just dead and in Heaven, they don't get to come down and walk the Earth whenever they want."

"Okay. Thanks," she said, feeling peaceful after hearing all of this. "Do they remember stuff? From their lives?"

"Yeah, of course. They die, they don't get erased," he said, shrugging. "It'd be kind of fucking boring for them if they were just dead robotic people, wouldn't it?"

"I guess so," she agreed. "I just wanted to make sure. At this point I have more dead family members than alive ones. It's just nice knowing about where they are."

"If you believe in Heaven and they have a modicum of goodness in them, they're in Heaven," he told her, nodding. "I'm sure they're doing fine. Just chilling, enjoying the afterlife."
