Girl parties, murder investigations, gala dances... It had been a long bloody week. And that was why, even if Jono did manage to get to the library on time for his shift, it had been a struggle to do anything remotely productive.

... At least there was a book in his hands when he dozed off at the desk? It was sort of like slacking off in a topical manner, if you looked at it right.

Just ignore the glittery plum-coloured nail polish.

For those of you who want to let sleeping mutants lie.

You know, for the rest of you, who don't mind giving him a good nudge to get him to do the job he came here to do.

Seriously?

Rosalind, who'd figured that there was nothing bad about visiting the library again, raised her eyebrows infinitesimally and stared.

She leaned over the desk to try and swat him on the head. Rosalind was not particularly gentle, but she wasn't putting all that much force into it either.

Jono was not going to be performing any amazing acts of acrobatics in order to avoid the swat, considering he was asleep and all. And so, after a moment of wrinkling his nose and pulling himself back from that muzzy place between sleep and awake, he cracked open one eye and lifted one hand to rub groggily at the other.

//I'm awake,// he reported, //and working hard, as I'm certain you can tell.//

It was kind of like 'good morning.'

"Oh yes," she scathed mildly. "Very hard. First too much noise and then you're sleeping?"

Really now. What kind of a work ethic was that?

//In my own defence, it's been a bloody long week,// Jono replied,looking at the book in his hand, shrugging, and then putting it back onto the small heap of things that needed re-shelving. //Normally, I'd have this much finished by now.//

Really, long weeks didn't give him an excuse.

She had been ready and able to go forward after everything that had happened on her first day as a Turk. (And what a day that had been.)

Alright, so she'd fallen asleep during the chopper ride home. But she'd been awake and on duty the entire time she'd had to be.

"Long weeks mean you have to focus harder to stay awake," she said, leaning against the desk. "Rather than giving in to temptation to be lazy."

Jono rolled his eyes, dropping the book down on the pile and giving his head a shake.

//I spent Thursday doing things that I'm not quite used to,// he said, in regards to a day spent wandering around and trying to poke around in minds that he had no business poking around in, //and I'm still feeling th'wear of it. That's not lazy, it's just...//

There had to be a word for it.

//... Completely bloody knackered.//

Yes, that.

"Oh?" she asked, raising her eyebrows. "Dare I ask?"

Rosalind didn't point out that Thursday was a long way since Sunday. She assumed her look would convey that nicely.

But there had been a dance slapped into the middle, for good measure! And a day with classes and people being insane all over the place! Where was the time to rest? Really?

//... Probably for the best if you don't,// Jono admitted, after a moment. //It isn't a topic that most people are terribly comfortable with.//

Himself included. But he figured that a violent murder case that involved one of his closer friends was a bit of an extenuating circumstance, especially when the killer was still at large.

Plenty of time to rest!

"If you say so," she said dryly. "Though that could just be a clever dismissal."

//Oh, yes, because you give me so much credit for being clever any other time,// came Jonothon's reply, complete with requisite eyeroll.

"I don't," she admitted, smirking. "Because you have yet to do anything to merit it."

//And I'm not winning any medals by falling asleep on th'job,// Jono noted, idly poking through the stack of books so that he could sort them as they spoke. The conversation was keeping him awake, at any rate. //Really, at this rate, you'll think I'm a complete bloody berk for th'rest of my time here.//

And a year was a long time for someone to think of you as an idiot, wasn't it?

"Years longer than that, even," she said, pursing her lips. "It would be shocking to find another such as yourself."

That got a sideways sort of look from Jono for a second before he redoubled his efforts to put the books into their proper order.

//You know, I have to admit that I'm not entirely certain how I ought to take that?//

That amused her, likely more than it should have.

"Take it however you prefer to," she said dismissively, with the wave of one hand.

//... Of course.//

Jono looked at her again, mulling that statement over, before shifting a few books around and then just finally giving up on the whole mess of it.

//If you really must know, I spent Thursday exercising th'same powers that let me speak.// He shrugged. Brushing it off. No big deal. //I don't really... do much with them, when I can help it.//

"More laziness?" she asked idly, not sure what fell under the umbrella of 'powers' in this case. Mind speech to be sure, but what else?

"Or?" Was there a better reason?

//We'll call it laziness, for now,// Jono decided. It seemed... safer that way. //Wanderin' around a bar in th'middle of hick country, wavin' my hands about and pretendin' to be a mute.//

When he tags in!

Henry was sunburnt and pretty blissfully happy from his time back in Chicago. Even if things with Clare were weird, there was no place like home -- and the fact he'd gotten to see Alba right around Father's Day made it even better.

He put a Bob Dylan record on the sound system and settled in to fill out some book orders.

... Natural Born Killers is a really freaking weird movie.
