First Aid - Danger Shop, Friday, Period 5 [Week 6]

The Danger Shop was set up like a waiting room again. Magazines and medical journals, a kids' table with toys and plates of cookies were scattered around the room, all circa 1960. The cookies weren't from 1960. They were real and fresh.

"Symptoms can look a lot alike. How can you tell the difference between a simple illness and something serious? The truth is, it takes years of practice and studying. You don't have time for that yet, so we're going to go through a case study so you can get a feel for what you should be looking for and how you should approach a potential emergency. One at a time, come through to the examination room. It's your choice if you come in. I won't try to force you. While it's not your turn, help yourselves to the reading material and the cookies."

"See? Sometimes you have to suffer a little bit of anxiety for the greater good," Kate chirped. "You'll be stronger for it. It's okay to be nervous. It's completely understandable."

"You're right." Cara nodded, and grinned broadly. "I feel much better after talking about this." She wondered if Kate would mind a thank-you hug. The occasion really did call for it.

Kate would not mind a hug at all. Kate would, however, boggle about this whole thing. Later. Not today.

"I'm very pleased to hear that, Cara," she smiled. "And I'm always glad to help, any way I can."
wrongkindofsith: (Hugs tiems nau plz)

Given that Cara hadn't initiated a hug since she was nine years old, Kate wouldn't be the only one.

"Thank you," Cara said, reaching out to hug her. "You can never have too many people to rely on."
vanillajello: (Hug!)

Kate put her notebook neatly aside and stood up, easily giving Cara a warm, friendly hug in return. "That's what sisters are for."

Cara smiled happily, there was nothing she liked more than a warm, friendly hug, especially from a fake family member.

"That and scrubbing each other's backs in the communal baths," Cara replied. "Because you just can't reach some places on your own. It's like a metaphor for life."

"Exactly," Kate agreed, gently pulling away after what she deemed an appropriate amount of hugging. "So, never be afraid to come to me. I'll gladly... scrub your back, so to speak."
wrongkindofsith: (How you doin?)

"And I'll do the same for you." Cara meant that in both a figurative and literal sense.
