"We're doing cupcakes today, ladies and gentlemen," Alysha announced once everyone was assembled. "Yeah, I know we've already decorated them, but making some kind of cake's an important thing to know how to do, and cupcakes are just cuter than a regular cake."

She passed out a small booklet filled with cupcake recipes to each student. "This is yours to keep. There'll be more recipes for you next week to take with and experiment on, but for now, pick one of the cupcake recipes and go for it. I'm around if you have any questions."

Rilla was going to stick with something easy, like the devil's food cupcakes. And she was being very careful not to mix her sugar and salt this time.

If only she'd done the same for the baking soda and baking powder...
