Blending In, Wednesday, Period 6

When the students arrived to class today, they would find themselves inside a sports bar filled with televisions and loud patrons.

"There are few things that bring people from different cultures together better than international sports," Ziva said, dressed a little differently than normal. If her father was dead, he'd be rolling in his grave. "In case you have not been watching the television, the World Cup is currently being held in South Africa, pitting football - or soccer - teams from different countries against each other to see who comes out on top." The euphemism was easy to remember if you just thought about soccer players being on top of each other.

"There are two games going on right now," Ziva continued. "Pick one that you would like to watch, and then pick a team to cheer for - but you'd better put on the team's jersey, or you will get thrown out. Sports fans take solidarity very seriously sometimes."

She gravitated towards the food, on the basis of it'd be easy to grab some and then... avoid as much of the cheering as possible. She didn't even understand this game much less want a particular team to win!

"You look like you're thinking something similar to what I'm thinking," Triela said quietly as she stepped up beside Rosalind to grab some cover food for herself.

Rosalind glanced at her.

"Oh?"

Ben loooved food. His appetite restored from his bout of emo the day before, he piled up a plate with a variety of fried things and moved closer to one of the screens.

James picked up a handful of crackers and a mug of apple juice. He still had no idea why the world needed a cup, but he would find out.

Mmm bar food.

Claire helped herself to a plate of cheese sticks and onion rings.

Ben didn't care which team won, but he would give a lot of credits to whoever got the buzzing noise to go away.

Soccer wasn't a game Claire knew much about. She decided to root for Switzerland simply because their colors were red and white.

"Do you understand the rules of the game?" she asked.

Ender amused himself by tugging on a Switzerland jersey; from what he'd picked up in the papers, the country hadn't exactly been thought of as a potential finals candidate. It... amused him even more when the Swiss actually won. In an absent kind of way - sports weren't his thing.

Del couldn't decide who to cheer; both teams' names were so funny!

So she was taking regular intervals of time to cheer both. Practical? No. Incredibly amusing? Heck yeah.

James donned the jersey for Uruguay; of the four, it was the least obnoxious...or the least likely to scream 'target' in a crowd.

And when the game started? "Gods! It's barrel-ball!" he exclaimed!

It was highly entertaining.

Also, the Swiss goalie is ROWR.

I have priorities.
