Library [06/16]

Sam got to the library a little early today, even after stopping at the Perk for coffee and breakfast. He got set up for the day quickly, the routine having become second nature after so long, and then settled in at the computer to check his e-mail and spend some time playing the Sims.

Yes, it still entertained him years later. Sometimes, he was easy to please.

Sam smirked at Dean and paused the game. "Very good. I don't know how anyone could watch porn here. It's so...not private."

"Says the guy who's actually had sex in the library," Dean noted with a grin. He handed over the covered dish with Sammy's lunch in it. "Here, chow down."

Sam blushed a little as he took the dish. "That was after hours when we wouldn't be disturbed," he insisted, perking up when he opened the dish and got a whiff. "You didn't have to cook, you know. But thank you."

"Well in a matter of weeks, you're going to have to cook for yourself. Or get your boyfriend to. Does Peter cook?"

Sam laughed. "No, but he's a master of takeout. He can find any kind of food I might have a craving for in a matter of minutes. Maybe all those cooking classes were a good idea."

"Yeah, because I'm the one who's supposed to be living on takeout. You staying in one place -- you should make your own food."

"But college students are supposed to live on takeout," Sam pointed out. "And improper nutrition will keep me from growing more."

"Dude, you better have stopped growing by now or I will make an anvil hat for you to wear to hold you down."

That got Sam to laugh even harder. "I don't know, I think I have a few more inches to grow."

Dean rolled his eyes. "Fine. You're taller. But I'm still more awesome."

Sam laughed, but he couldn't keep from smiling at Dean. "You're pretty awesome, I'll give you that," he said, happily starting to eat.

"Yeah, show off those brains there, Sammy," Dean teased.

"I've got to get them warmed up somehow," Sam said. "You know, if the hunting thing doesn't work out, you could be a cook."

"Or a sex ed teacher," Dean said. "Or a classic car mechanic. Or I could break everybody's brains and go to college myself. I know."

"But you're perfectly happy hunting, I know," Sam replied. "I'm still allowed to worry about you, right?"

"Hey, I'm always going to worry about you," Dean said easily, opening his own covered dish. "Guess turnabout's only fair."

"Yeah, but I'm not going to be willingly putting myself into harm's way, unless you ask me to," Sam pointed out.

"Right. So you're just going to ignore things if you come across something weird?"

"Honestly, I don't know if there are demons and things in Peter's universe," Sam said. "I might not have anything to hunt. Anything supernatural, at least."

"Dude, I've seen what your boyfriend can do. And other family members. If that shit doesn't qualify as supernatural, I don't know what does."

"Yeah, but they're people. That's different," Sam said. "I can't exactly kill one of them if they go rogue." Unless it was Sylar, but he didn't count.

"Hunting's not just about killing, y'know," Dean said. "It's more about saving people."

"And killing whatever's hurting the people so no one else needs to be saved from it," Sam replied. "We're not exactly in the habit of letting bad things go."

"Depends on the situation and what's hurting people," Dean said. "I mean, if there's one thing Fandom's taught us, it's that nothing's black and white and even demons can be kinda cool sometimes."

"And not everyone with powers is bad," Sam agreed, thinking more of Peter's friends than anyone else Dean might have known with abilities.
