Journalism Class - Friday October 21

The screen behind Spider is lit up with the following message:

Homework. Extra-credit. Attendance. All of these things will be evaluted this weekend. Some of you will be passing this class. Some of you will be failing. Attendance and Homework are both requirements (although Extra-credit can be used in place of homework if you mark it as such in the homework post). This week's Homework counts as your mid-term and will be a third of your final grade. I will be reviewing your progress over the course of the project when I go over my paperwork this weekend, and participation is a large part of your final grade.

Also, attendance in this class is lax... but I do require that you show up (ie post) within the same day that the class is held. If you cannot attend class, please bring a note for an excused absence. I cannot give you credit for showing up for class in the wrong time continuum.

Spider himself is sprawled out behind his desk, talking quietly but earnestly to the cat... who is ignoring him in favor of a cigarette.

Once there are sufficient people in the room, he addresses them. "Good morning class. We'll be having a guest next week in the form of Professor Dream, who will help me to demonstrate the basic unreliability of most eyewitnesses and we'll explore the various methods best used to determine which version of the events is likely to be the most accurate. Also, I will be absent next Thursday as the damn cat has an appointment with Professor Dream's class in turn and we'll have a guest speaker for the day. If I can swing it, we'll see if Professor Cregg will allow you to practice a press conference with her."

Giving up on the cat, he rose to his feet and made a sweeping gesture. "Today I want each of you to find a professor or other staff member here on campus and ask them a single question regarding their field of study or profession and why they chose it. I want each of you to chose a different professor, so announce your victim below and, when you're through, please post their answer verbatim. The trick here is to make the single question that you're allowed interesting enough to produce a useful answer."

He grinned at them. "Have at."

Edited: Edited to include any staff member.

Xander blinks. "I... guess I'll ask Professor The Tick, since I talked to him yesterday, and he's an.... interesting... instructor. Not that we're short on those."

Unrelated OOC question, for the big homework project

In terms of a faculty endorsement, which our group has secured, what are we looking for besides "Yes, I'll back your project?" A quote for the promotional material?

"No, we weren't really going to use that." Xander nods. "Just checking on the specifics, because he asked. Thanks."

Friday's ask-a-prof-a-question homework

I, ah, asked Professor The Tick what inspired him to fight crime and then teach students about it.

He said: The inspiration for both crimefighting and teaching came in the same way. Both times I was sitting in a small room when I had an Epiphany that led me to my Destiny. Well, it wasn't exactly the same kind of thing. The second time was in my sidekick, Arthur's, apartment. And I wasn't wearing that white jacket. But still, I heard Destiny beckoning to me, guiding me to where I should go! And there I am!
~~

I'm filled with confidence about that small room with the white jacket. I truly am.
