Library, Monday [6/7]
Gabrielle had been hoping for a quiet shift today. She wasn't entirely naive enough to think that just hoping for one made it any more likely to happen, though.
Finding a mis-shelved compendium of Spartan history bristling and rustling its pages at the volumes on Athenian culture surrounding it made her feel vindicated in that touch of pessimism . . . and very, very relieved that this situation could be handled with just a little proper reshelving.
If only it were always that easy.

Mod Your Library [6/7]
Talk to Gabrielle [6/7]
I sing of Gabrielle, faithful companion and library assistant, who forestalled literary carnage in the stacks this day . . .
Re: Talk to Gabrielle [6/7]
"So, what's good to eat around here?" he joked.
Re: Talk to Gabrielle [6/7]
Gabrielle looked up from her scroll with a mildly scandalized expression.
"It's a library," she exclaimed -- as best as she could exclaim in a hushed voice. "The books aren't for eating."
Or use as toilet paper, Xena.
Blink.
"Wait. That was a joke, right? Oh, clever." She shook a finger at him. "Good one. If you were really here to eat the books I'd be obligated to protect them and you really don't want that."
Re: Talk to Gabrielle [6/7]
"On a more serious note, I was wondering how the library was laid out. Is my ability to understand the Dewey Decimal System of any use here?"
Re: Talk to Gabrielle [6/7]
She carefully shoved her scroll aside and propped her chin up on her hand, thinking. "It's a good start, but try and think of it more like a guideline around here, rather than a map. The library can be a little . . . capricious."
Oooh. 'Capricious' was a good word.
Re: Talk to Gabrielle [6/7]
He had a feeling that it wasn't, though.

He smiled at his joke. "Anything else I need to be warned about?"
Re: Talk to Gabrielle [6/7]
"About anything in general, or the library specifically?"
It had better not be the former, or he'd never get a word in edgewise.
For weeks.

Seriously, he didn't become a librarian so he could do math.

Cindy had extensive experience with budgets and balancing the books. She did own The Glass Slipper--at least, when she wasn't gallivanting across the globe on assignments from Bigby. "I've seen it done once or twice," she said lightly. "Can I see? Or is the library's budget a secret for only the librarian to know?"
Re: Talk to the Librarian [6/7]
[OOC: Mod my fake budget, bb.]
Re: Talk to the Librarian [6/7]
See? That was true affection here!
"Hmmm..." she said, looking over the file. "This could take a few minute. Mind if I sit?" From the way she glanced at his knees, she was not looking to pull the other chair around the desk.
[Awesome! Dancing elephants for everyone!]
Re: Talk to the Librarian [6/7]
Someone was ... possibly not dealing with the fact Anemone and Sam were both leaving in a matter of weeks.
Re: Talk to the Librarian [6/7]
not dirty!she was damn well going to enjoy herself while she did. "Okay, so cleaning supplies are sacrosanct, as is the coffee budget, I assume..." She glanced through a few of the columns. "Have you thought about calling the pizza place and seeing about getting a discount on pizzas you buy for the staff meetings? 'Care and Feeding for Special Collections'? Do I even want to know?"Re: Talk to the Librarian [6/7]
"I could definitely cut back on the food budget," Henry agreed. "And Special Collections ... hmmm. I try to convince people not to go back there since the fog. But for all I know, Deadpool is sacrificing goats to it after I close up."
