Arts & Crafts, Period 2, 5-21

"Good morning, everyone," Steve said once the class was assembled. "I trust everyone's doing well this morning? Good. We're going to be making lanyards. There's also a beaded keychain variation if you'd rather do that." Kind of tedious? Yes. As far as Steve could tell, most 'traditional' crafts were. But hey, at the end they'd have a nifty lanyard, suitable for...attaching to their keys. "It's a four-strand braiding technique, which may not be familiar to some of you, but instructions are provided along with the materials, so, get to it!"

Jonas was going to do his level best not to get tangled in the lanyards. Level best didn't mean he wouldn't though. He was doomed to fail at least once when attempting something for the first time.

Still, he was going to keep trying.

Didi knotted her pink-and-black lanyard relatively neatly and tightly, helped along by her knitting habit. It was mindless work, but she enjoyed having something to do with her hands.

She kept an eye out for Del, curious how the youngest Endless would interpret the instructions.

"What color is Despair?" Del was chewing on a elastic lace. Hmmm, green.

Didi heard the capitalization, not that it would have changed her answer either way. "Gray. Maybe gray and brown. Are you doing all seven?"

Del nodded happily, pointing at the three she had done. "Death, Dream, Destiny." In that order. "I once met Charlie, he talked with his morning tea. Funny tea, actually. He was always doing this stuff." A beat. "Charlie, not the tea."

Didi would have put white in Dream's for Daniel, but she hadn't exactly asked this Del if she knew about the recent change in their brother, and it was a sore subject even for her. She nodded instead, understanding the color choices. "Pretty. Was Charlie good at it?"

[Too many D names! I also can't type 'did' without it becoming 'didi.']

Del knew about that, and actually, once she got the seven finished she was more likely to make an eight; seeing Morpheus and Daniel as one was still difficult for her. "Yes, it was the only thing he did all day. Me made one for every person he met." She was already doing the one for Despair, fingers moving dexterously. "And then one day after fifteen years, Charlie got better, and put a business and made manymany lanya-lanair-thingies." Del had probably done something to Charlie, alright, but he ended up fine.

It would have helped Didi see them as one (in more than the technical sense) if Morpheus and Daniel had been a little more alike. It was weird, to miss someone who was technically still there.

She raised an eyebrow. "He had a whole business just to sell lanyards? That's, um. Good for him."

Weird was the distinct word on that family.

"Uh-huh! It was rather productive, actually; he even sold those to people in other countries and everything." Crazy people had mad awesome business skills.

"I guess people everywhere need keychains," Didi commented wisely. "How have you been, anyhow? Good week?"

Del stopped her working there. "It's been...fun. And I'm not going somewhere else for now, and living in a single place is new and interesting and Dandelion is funny. She wants to eat green telephone ice cream." If there wasn't someone that crazy around, it would be a lot less funny. "And you are here, so it's all nice and calm."

She only needed a doggy now.

"It really is nice and calm," Didi agreed. "Lanyards to weave, people to talk to ... so did you make green telephone ice cream for Dandelion?"

The fact it was a D name did not pass Didi by.

Del waved her head. "Nope, because we didn't have wasa-waba-wasabi." Del was sure it was something green.

This was fun! Surprisingly enough, Del was already for the third of those in no time. She had an entirely black one, a dark blue with red one, and a brown with black one. Anyone see a trend here? "..." She then started to make a red and white one.

Blackagar's... braided thing was doing just fine, thank you. No tangling or messing up. He wasn't honestly certain of the point, but he worked on anyway.

It was soothing and quiet.

Yay lanyards? They were certainly craftsy! Kurt picked blue, black, red, and yellow for his colors, and proceeded to make one that was as long as he possibly could.

...Just ignore the little tufts of blue fur that appeared as if by magic, caught in some of the tighter knots.
