Library [05/19]

Sam got to the library a little early today, and decided to do some cleaning, taking care of the dust in some of the harder to reach places that weren't so hard for him to reach. Sometimes, being tall had its advantages.

"No," Dean deadpanned. "I brought lots of food that I intend to eat in front of you not sharing. Because I'm known for not sharing with my brother. Duh, of course some of it's for you."

"I just wanted to check," Sam said as he came down from where he was cleaning. "Thank you, I didn't realize how hungry I was."

"What did you do for food when you were working when I was gone?" Dean asked.

"Chuck came by and fed me," Sam said. "I think he wanted to make sure I wasn't lonely, even if he'd never admit that."

"Might interfere with his reputation as a douchebag, yeah," Dean said, sitting in his usual seat and pulling out a sandwich and salad for Sam which he slid across the table.

Sam took a seat as well and went for the salad first. "So, how'd your weekend go?" he asked casually.

"Not bad. Did some intervention with aforementioned douchebag and then did my best to keep him from drinking himself into an emo stupor on his birthday."

"Did it work?" Sam asked. "I know it's not a good day for him, but he shouldn't be in such a terrible mood."

Dean smirked with more than a little dirty in it. "Oh yeah, I think it's safe to say it worked."

Sam caught Dean's expression and made a grossed out face. "Ugh, I shouldn't have asked, should I?"

Dean spread his hands. "Hey, it worked, so really you shouldn't complain. Not sure what else would've."

"I guess I can't complain about your methods if they worked," Sam said reluctantly.

"Damn straight. I go with what works. That? Worked." He took a big bite of his bacon cheeseburger, then continued with his mouth full. "So how 'bout you? What did you do all weekend?"

"Um, not much," Sam said, taking a bite of his salad. Aside from finding out how he started the end of the world, of course.

Yeah, Dean had really good Sammy radar and he would've put good money on there being something he wasn't telling him. "So what was the not much?"

"I met that Gabriel guy," Sam admitted. Considering how much trouble he was in for lying to Dean, lying now didn't seem like the best idea. "I ran into him at Caritas. Or he ran into me, or something."

Dean watched Sammy. "I take it, it wasn't just shooting the breeze conversation?"

"Not exactly. He knows the other you and me. The ones from Castiel's world," Sam said. "And I think I know why Castiel doesn't like me very much now."

Dean bit back on his instinct to argue that fact and just asked instead, "Why?"

"Gabriel said that the apocalypse is my fault. That I'm the one who started it," Sam said, looking guilty.

"Cas has been going on about how we both started it," Dean said gently, seeing how much Sammy was taking this to heart. "Plus apparently I ended the world or something that has him all poster boy for depression."

"Well, I don't know what you did, but apparently I set Lucifer free, like I'm on his side or something," Sam said, sighing. "I don't like the sound of it at all."

"You wouldn't do something like that," Dean immediately denied.

"Like I wouldn't become a vampire? Or a demon?" Sam asked.

"You know how I know you wouldn't?" Dean asked. "Because every time we go evil we end up sleeping together and I'm pretty sure Cas would've let something like that slip if it had been happening. So, no sleeping together, no evil. Simple as that."
