Deep Thoughts (Thursday evening)

Anakin propped open the door to the Professor Logan's music room in preparation for the second meeting of the Deep Thoughts Club.

He had an instructional video under his arm and a sign that said "Emo Brigade members welcome."

He grabbed one of the nearest desks, sprawled into it and prepared to ~~be emo~~ ~~bood~~ think deep thoughts with his fellow members.

He also hoped Professor Logan hadn't gotten his hands on the banthabell CD.

Angela nods. "Wallowing. Or brooding. Sometimes sulking."

She chomps on her lollypop again. "I mean, it's nopt like I evwen know what I want to do, right? So wallowing is all there is."

She stretches out her legs. "How are things with Padme? I saw you guys in Deb's this weekend."

[OOC: "not like I even." Stupid typos, interrupting my emo.]

[OOC: Hee. Emo accepts no limitations! Not even those of grammar!]

Anakin continued staring at the floor. "Complicated. I mean, not between us, but it's kinda not a thing that we're supposed to be doing, you know? At least where we come from." He scowled. "Parents' Weekend is going to be awful."

"Tell me about it," Angela drawls, or as close to a drawl as an east coast accent will get. "My mom and my little sister are going to be up. Between playing dodge the weirdness and dodge the ex- boyfriend..." she groans. "It's gonna suck."

She sucks on the lollypop stem. "I don't know, maybe it would be better if she just pulled me out of this school."

"Who's coming for you?"

"My old teacher. Current teacher. Um, we call them masters, but that seems to bring out some snickering on this world." Anakin yanked at his braid. "He's in charge of my education, my progress along the path to being a Jedi, my life until I pass the trials and become a Jedi Knight myself."

He rolled his eyes and began imitating Obi-Wan. "'Which, at the rate you're going, young Padawan, will be when you're as old as Master Yoda and not a day before.'" He groaned. "He sent me here because he wanted a break, I'm convinced of it. Couldn't handle dealing with the Chosen One a second more."

"So it's like a parent, only you can't even, like, count the years until college and then escape," Angela says. "And you're a chosen one? I don't, like, know what that means, but it sounds really stress-y. I mean, kind of cool, but..." She settles back into her chair. "No wonder you have to wallow sometimes. I don't even have that excuse."

Anakin wasn't about to mention his mother. Talking about complicating an already complicated situation. "Something like that. And until I came here? My master's been with me pretty much all day everyday since I was nine." He shuddered. "Talk about too much togetherness."

He brushed off the Chosen One comment. "I don't normally talk about the whole 'fulfilment of prophecy' thing--it makes my skin itch--but Professor Gandalf brought it up in class today and it's been on my mind."

He finished his Twinkie and looked at Angela. "I think a break-up is a way better, more concrete reason for brooding than my worrying about a prophecy that I may or may not ever fulfill."

Angela shudders. "My parents both worked and I still felt like I saw them too much. I can't imagine having ome of them there all. the. time."

She stares at the ceiling some more, recognizing that Anakin doesn't really want to talk about his destiny. Finally, she looks back at him. "The breakup is definitely a reason to brood. And, um, you're the first person I talked to today who didn't tell me that Marty was so great and we should get back together. I so appreciate that you respect my brooding."

Anakin shrugged. "You needed to brood, not be told how wonderful and happy and chocolate-covered everything is. But I've been told I'm not exactly the most optimistic being in the galaxy." He gestured at the rest of the room. "Thus the club."

"Optimistic people depress me," Angela says, "It's like they never think." She looks around the room. "I'm so glad this club exists. Plus -" she gestures at the video - "Now I know what emo actually means."

Anakin nodded. "I was glad to find it. I didn't know what the word meant, either."

Angela nods. "Yeah, I don't think it was a concept yet at my old school. I like the music, though. I think"

She notices everyone else is leaving and picks up her bookbag. "We'll have to hang out and be angsty some other time, okay?"

Anakin smiled and nodded. "Next week? Or I'm always up for a good brood and a cup of coffee if you get tired of all the optimists."

"Next week should be good," Angela says. "But I'll give you a call before then if I feel like brooding with company. See you around."
