Arts & Crafts, Period 2, 5-14

"Good morning!" Steve said to his assembled students. "Welcome to Arts & Crafts! I'm Steve Rogers, and I'll be your instuctor. If you're not supposed to be here, you can leave now, or," he shrugged, "not, it's summer camp, no one's getting graded here, and I have plenty of materials. We're going to start with a gremlin in a jar," he said, holding up an example from a previous year. "These are much nicer than the ones that inhabit the dorms, I believe, and, in the jar, they couldn't bite you anyway. Win-win, right? Your instruction sheets and all the materials you'll need are on the tables. So, let's get started, and while we're working if everyone could introduce themselves and tell me where you're from and why you decided to take Arts & Crafts, that would be great." He'd seen Black Bolt's name on his roster, and had thought about informing him he already knew who he was, but ultimately didn't want to draw undue attention to anyone, and so said nothing on that score. "If you have any problems with the activity or questions I'm glad to help in any way I can."

At least an art project was something to concentrate on other than Kyle's leaving and everyone at the X-Mansion having apparently freaking disappeared. So Bobby set out to make his jargremlin with a singleminded determination not usually reserved for craft projects.

Kurt looked over at Bobby worriedly.

"Bobby? What's the matter, homey? You're not looking very... Bobby-like today."

"Huh?" Bobby glanced up at Kurt from where he was Very Intently painting his gremlin. "What do you mean?"

Kurt frowned. "Seriously. Don't give me the cold shoulder, here. I mean, you tell me to chill, and I'll disappear, but I'm here for a bud. Don't try to snow me."

He watched Bobby's face, hoping for even the tiniest hint of a smile.

He didn't get a smile so much as an eyeroll. "Funny man," Bobby commented dryly. To be fair, any other day he probably would have been amused.

"Okay, now I'm REALLY worried." Kurt frowned. "You need me, just call, ja? We X-Men stick together."

Well, that just got a disbelieving snort and a muttered something under his breath, because if that were true, he wouldn't be left in the dark while all his friends were probably off on some stupid mission or something, wouldn't it?

...Except for how he'd technically quit the superheroing gig and was the only one still with high school to finish out.

First and foremost, Jonas read the instructions. Three times. And once he'd gotten a handle on what he was doing, he started his project. Two steps in, he knew he was going to end up messy but he didn't care. This was fun!

Huh. This was new she squinted at Steve-sensei's example, the gremlins were cute in an oni kind of way.

Didi quickly shaped her gremlin. From the supplies she'd claimed, it looked like she was planning to paint it black and then add glitter.

Vance got to work on his jar gremlin, really trying to make sure it didn't end up extremely lumpy. When it ended up extremely lumpy anyway, he decided to claim that he meant to do that and just added some wings.

Del was already made of glitter.

...She wondered why there was a jar next to her.

Ariel really didn't know anything about gremlins. Her gremlin was turning out to look like some bizarre combination of a crab and a shark. It really didn't seem to matter much, though, because she wasn't exactly the best at shaping the thing. She was having fun, though, concentrating very hard with her tongue stuck out a little bit, thinking on how her lessons back home had never been this cool before.

No matter what Kurt did to it, his gremlin kept coming out looking like a toad. He didn't like that.

...Also, the glitter got stuck in his fur ALL OVER. The image inducer hid all of it from view, except the bits in his hair, but he could feel it, and it ITCHED.
