Arts & Crafts, Period 2, 5-14

"Good morning!" Steve said to his assembled students. "Welcome to Arts & Crafts! I'm Steve Rogers, and I'll be your instuctor. If you're not supposed to be here, you can leave now, or," he shrugged, "not, it's summer camp, no one's getting graded here, and I have plenty of materials. We're going to start with a gremlin in a jar," he said, holding up an example from a previous year. "These are much nicer than the ones that inhabit the dorms, I believe, and, in the jar, they couldn't bite you anyway. Win-win, right? Your instruction sheets and all the materials you'll need are on the tables. So, let's get started, and while we're working if everyone could introduce themselves and tell me where you're from and why you decided to take Arts & Crafts, that would be great." He'd seen Black Bolt's name on his roster, and had thought about informing him he already knew who he was, but ultimately didn't want to draw undue attention to anyone, and so said nothing on that score. "If you have any problems with the activity or questions I'm glad to help in any way I can."

"I'm sure some of you have done this a couple of times already this week, so, let's just get this one done, shall we?" Even if he already knew adult versions of, like, half the class...

"I'm Steve Rogers, I'm your teacher, I'm from New York City, and I've been an artist for years, mostly working in graphic design. Next."

"Bobby Drake, from Westchester, New York, and, well, it just seemed like a summer camp kinda class, you know?" The introduction was somewhat lacking in Bobby's usual enthusiasm, but it was nothing personal, Steve, honestly.

"Hi, Bobby," Steve said, grinning at him. "It is a summer camp kind of class. That's why I offer it." He seemed kind of...down, compared to Iceman standard, but Steve didn't think he could comment.

"I'm Jonas, from a place called the Community that I don't think anyone other than me knows," he said, almost smiling at that, "and I've never taken an arts and crafts class before. I've seen art of all skill levels but never tried it before. I wanted to correct that."

"Well, don't worry about skill level here," Steve said wryly. "We're just here to have fun."

"I'm Asuna Kagurazaka," Asuna began, proud of herself for her English. Having an English brat for a roommate and a teacher had its advantages. "I'm from Mahora Academy in Japan and I've always been interested in art since I was a kid."

"Hello...Asuna?" Steve tried. "Is that right? Welcome to the class. Were you studying at the Mahora Academy before you came here, or is that where you lived?"

"Yes, sensei," Asuna replied and added. "I both lived and studied in Mahora Academy."

"I'm Didi, I'm not really from anywhere but I was in New York last," Didi said. "I'm here because ... I have a brother who's trying to be an artist? And it seems to always make him happy. So I thought, why not."

"Hi, Didi," Steve said. "Good on you for learning about your family's interests. Plus art's just fun all around," he added with a grin. "It's a good excuse to make a giant mess."

"I'm Vance Astrovik and I'm from Saugerties, New York," Vance said. "And I figured I'd round out my schedule with something that just seemed like fun."

"Hi, Vance," Steve said. "Sounds like a good plan to me. I'll try to make it fun for you."

Ariel had two classes earlier in the week and she knew she had two classes today, so she'd made sure she'd come to these ones prepared. The nametag had all but disintergrated by now, but she had with her a handy little notecard, which she now presented to the teacher and to be passed around. On it was written:

"My name is Ariel, and I can't talk. No, I wasn't born this way. Yes, it will get better. But right now I haven't got a voice, so hello and I'm very happy to be in this class!!! =D Thank you!!!"

Someone was eyeing Ariel with all the intent to glomp her to death. Well, not really now that her sister was in the same class, but the point was still semi-valid.

Ariel sighed, so dramatically, making her bangs flop with her exaggerated huff of air. Working on it! She was trying here, you know. She did have a date next week; and she almost got better last night, thank you. She'll get there.

Two non-talkers in the class, huh. What were the odds? "Hello, Ariel. Thank you for sharing with the class. I hope you're feeling better soon, but in the meantime if there's any way I can help, don't hesitate to let me know."

Still smiling brightly and just generally happy to be here and get to actually make human junk, Ariel nodded her head, one good, strong nod, to indicate that, indeed she would.

As the other person incapable of speaking, Blackagar also learned to use notecards. It might get to the point where he had a few to always use when dealing with Fandom.

But now wasn't the time.

My name is Blackagar Boltagon, I am from Germany. I don't recall signing up for this class.

Oh, paperwork errors.

Kurt brightened up (even more) when he saw the card. "Really?!? Me, too!!! Willkommen auf Fandom!"

Ariel saw another notecard; Ariel became very, very intrigued. She tilted her head curiously at Blackagar, looking him over a little, and smiling at him.

Silent solidarity, right?

"I'm Delirium, and I'm from everywhere." Big creepy smiles for everyone! But! Moving on with the introductions. "Destruction likes art, so I thought, maybe there is something awesome and interesting about putting funny colors on places and call it a masterpiece...or maybe not." Well, she had never stopped much to look at her brother's art; she had been happy about him being happy of painting and stuff.

Delirium and Destruction...someone shouldn't have been allowed to name their children. "Welcome to the class, Delirium!" Steve said. Moving RIGHT along...

"I'm Kurt Wagner, and I'm from Bayville, New York!" Kurt announced. With his very noticeable German accent. "And I'm here because... well... um..."

He looked sheepish. "I figured I'd hang with you more. I've never heard Logan talk about ANYONE the way he talked about you."

"Bayville, huh?" Steve asked, because, well, didn't he mean Westchester? "I'm not sure I'll live up to Logan's version of my reputation during Arts & Crafts, but I'm sure we'll have some fun here. Glad to have you here!"
