Home Ec is Outrageous!; Monday, Period Five [ 05/10 ].
This was it! The very first day of his new class, the very first chapter in the book entitled Aquaman's Adventures in High School Education! And he was prepared! As the students came into the home ec classroom, they would find on their tables a box of various supplies, some crayons and markers and paints, scissors and hot glue guns. And glitter, of course! One didn't have to be a long-standing resident of the island to know that glitter could be a crucial element in a project such as todays! And preparation was at least fifty five percent of victory, if not sixty.
The large man in the tight superhero outfit positively beamed from the head of the classroom as the students got settled, waiting for the precise minute for class to begin. Once it came, he started, bursting with professorial pride. "Hello, intrepid young knowledge seekers! I trust your first day of world-expanding workshops have been going swimmingly, and allow me to welcome you to the home ec classroom. Here, we will join forces together to explore the outrageous wonders of the home economics world! My name is Aquaman, and you may be wondering what a well-known superhero and king of the undersea realm might be doing here teaching home economics in a summer workshop! Well, let me tell you!"
He took a moment to turn around, picking up a marker for the dry erase board, and he wrote out across it a phrase. The marker squeaked, quite a lot, with each careful stroke. Aquaman, however, didn't seem to notice. He finished with a very deliberate and dramatic dot on the bottom of his exclamation point and backed away.
"A man (or woman)'s home is his castle, and if he (or she) cannot maintain his (or her) own castle, how can he (or she) be expected to maintain his kingdom?" he read off importantly.
He stood there admiring it for a moment before turning back around to the class. "See, just like crime fighting, I believe that maintaing home and hearth to be a hands-on job! It builds character! If that means I'm to mend my own socks, well, then, mend them I shall!"
Like Mera would ever mend them for him. And, besides, Aquaman didn't really ever wear socks, anyway.
"So, my intrepid individuals, these next few weeks, we shall embark on the great journey of learning how to better take care of the ecomonics of home! Because home is where the heart is! On your desks, you will find a syllabus, so you know precisely what to look forward to, and please let me know if you have any questions at all. Today's adventure?"
Again, he turned to the board. Again, the marker squeaked with every careful move.
"Introductions & Color Scheme!"
"Introductions!" he said. "And color scheme! It is important for superheroes and homes alike to have a certain color scheme to ground them and make them noteable! As you can see, I am quite fond of orange and green, myself. They are bold and outrageous, just like me! Green is also the color of life and vitality, and of nature, which gives us life...and vitality. And orange, well, orange is for vitality, too, and it helps inspire creativity and it's really, really noticeable. Plus? I like them a lot!"
"So I'd like you all to take a few minutes and think about what colors you would like to choose to represent you! Think well, but think quick! Then, we will take turns going around the room; introduce yourself, telling us who you are, a little about where you are from, why you've decided to take Home Ec, and then tell us what your colors are and why! Then, we will spend the rest of the class using those colors to design a room! It can be any kind of room! Bedroom, living room, bath room...it doesn't matter, as long as you use your colors as the central theme for them. You can use whatever you like to design them; everything you need should be there at your desks. If you're feeling particularly bold and brave, there are shoeboxes provided so you can put your design into a really cool diorama!"
"So, if there aren't any questions, five minutes! And then we'll talk color!"
[[please wait for the slowly approaching OCD has arrived! ]]

Introductions! -- Home Ec, 05/10.
Re: Introductions! -- Home Ec, 05/10.
She was never going to like public speaking. But knowing she was going to have to do this three times a semester made it ever so slightly easier.
"Um ... I'm 16. A j-junior now. From, um ... this really tiny town in California. I'm in this class because ... I like cooking and stuff to make people happy? And I figure I'll have a house someday. So this seemed practical. My colors are purple and blue."

Aquaman was kind of a nerd.
Re: Introductions! -- Home Ec, 05/10.
It'd been third grade before he's mastered basic math, but Calvin was totally caught up on his philosophers, especially the ones named after tigers.
Re: Introductions! -- Home Ec, 05/10.
It wasn't like living in a graveyard with a group of ghosts had prepared him for this sort of thing. There wasn't much need for colour schemes.
"I believe my colour scheme would be black and dark blue," he said, looking down at his clothes of the same color. "Perhaps some dark green. I tend to like darker colors."

Because it set off her coloring nicely. Rilla was an occasionally vain girl.
Re: Introductions! -- Home Ec, 05/10.
"And green really is a good color, isn't it?" he added, with a cheerful wink as he gave his big green glove a tug.

She paused for a moment trying to clear her head.
"What was the question?"

"However," his expression went a little stern, holding up a chastising finger, "I am not sure that shit is a very appropriate word for a class room setting, lass."

"My name is Sara Stanley," she said gracefully, and glanced briefly Rilla's way with a look of relief. "I'm just recently sixteen, and I've spent most of my life living with my mother's family in Carlisle, on Prince Edward Island, only it was 1910 when I left." She trailed off for a moment, distracted by the idea of how many more stories must have cropped up in the last hundred years that she could learn and tell.
"I like bold colors," she finally went on, the way she said it indicating exactly what she meant by 'bold.' "I'm rather fond of deep reds and blues."
Re: Introductions! -- Home Ec, 05/10.
"Welcome to the twenty-first century, then, Sara, and to my class! It will be great to have you, and maybe shed some light on how much things have changed since then! And deep red and blue! Very good colors! One of the best superheroes I know is very fond of red and blues; they're a super combination!"

PSA over, he finished with, "I'm here because I love clothes, parties and food so where else would I be, and it's really hard to pick just two colors, but... let's go with silver and dusty rose. Or maybe electric blue?"
Re: Introductions! -- Home Ec, 05/10.
But then he was deeply involved with wanting to help young Emmett with his color conundrum, stroking his beard thoughtfully. "Electric blue," he concluded, nodding at the suggestion. "It's so much more...electric."

"Happy late birthday early, then, Sookie!" said Aquaman, chuckling at what he thought was a very good joke. "Welcome to the class! And yellow and purple are very nice colors; no one'll miss you in those ones!"
Re: Introductions! -- Home Ec, 05/10.
Oh dear god, did she ever need to practice. The problem was no one ever deserved to be practiced upon, so, sorry class!
"I'm going to go with blue and yellow for my colors." Match her uniform.
Re: Introductions! -- Home Ec, 05/10.
"Welcome to the class, Kitty! Glad to have you and practice does make perfect. Or close enough to perfect to count. Yellow and blue are excellent colors, well picked!"
Re: Introductions! -- Home Ec, 05/10.
Yes, Kurt thought he was funny.
"My favorite color is definitely blue, but I also like... oh, red and black. And yellow is nice for accents." He grinned. "And I decided to take this class because I heard a rumor it was outrageous."
